The governor portrayed herself as a centrist candidate ahead of the 2025 election, though a Fairfax County resident told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/4517178\/abigail-spanberger-support-craters-poll\/\">Spanberger &ldquo;switched over&rdquo; on her portrayal<\/a> and is now &ldquo;just a bot for the Democratic Party.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Concha said the &ldquo;adoring media&rdquo; praised Spanberger as &ldquo;this great moderate&rdquo; candidate on the campaign trail. He added this shows &ldquo;the old saying applies,&rdquo; to never judge a candidate by their words, but by their actions.<\/p>\n<p>Concha&rsquo;s statement on Spanberger&rsquo;s stance on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement likely refers to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/4423068\/spanberger-scraps-ice-cooperation-order-first-day\/\">her scrapping an executive order<\/a> from former Republican Gov. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/glenn-youngkin\/\">Glenn Youngkin<\/a> that furthered state law enforcement&rsquo;s collaboration with ICE officers. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/4446357\/abigail-spanberger-terminates-virginia-cooperation-ice\/\">Spanberger said<\/a> that immigration enforcement and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/completely-absent-arizona-law-enforcement-leaders-slam-mark-kelly\/\" title=\"\u2018Completely Absent\u2019: Arizona Law Enforcement Leaders Slam Mark Kelly\">law enforcement priorities<\/a>, such as safety and security, weren&rsquo;t aligned.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Spanberger also signed a bill to redistrict the state, with Election Day<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/4513645\/local-independent-outlet-in-virginia-redistricting-democratic-operatives\/\"> for this referendum set for April 21<\/a>.
