The push was on display at Rev. Al sharpton’s National Action Network convention in New York, where Moore faced enthusiastic applause and attendees urged him to say yes to a 2028 bid. moore reiterated he is not running in 2028, stressing the need to concentrate on the 2026 midterms and his work in Maryland, even quipping that he has “278 days left in my first term” and promising to return to Maryland voters in November. Attendees offered mixed views: some, impressed by his leadership and charisma, encouraged a presidential run, while others argued he should stay focused on Maryland and continue his achievements there before seeking higher office. The NAN convention is described as an annual gathering that can act as an early testing ground for potential candidates among Black voters, and the piece notes Moore’s willingness to critique the Trump governance on issues like energy costs and foreign policy while maintaining his current commitment to Maryland.

Wes Moore is focused on Maryland but Democrats want him to run in 2028

NEW YORK CITY— Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) insists he’s focused on getting reelected this year and working to make Maryland, but that isn’t stopping some activists within the Democratic Party from urging him to run for president in 2028.

The hype was on full display at Rev.
