Hutchinson served as an assistant to then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The investigation into Ms. Hutchinson began some weeks ago after the Justice Department received a referral from a Trump ally in Congress who accused Ms. Hutchinson of lying to the special House committee that investigated the events of Jan. 6,&rdquo; the Times said. [President Trump] never grabbed the steering wheel. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, vice chairwoman of the Jan. 6 committee, Hutchinson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jFYZkkPaM5A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">testified<\/a>, &ldquo;There were several times throughout my tenure with the chief of staff where I was aware of either him throwing dishes or flipping the tablecloth to let all the contents of the table go onto the floor.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In October 2024, Republican Rep. Barry Loudermilk, chairman of the Committee on House Administration&rsquo;s Subcommittee on Oversight, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/liz-cheney-accused-unethical-behavior-surrounding-jan-6-committee-new-text-messages-surface\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made public 2022 text messages<\/a> between Cheney and Hutchinson, without the knowledge of her attorney.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In the months prior to Hutchinson&rsquo;s explosive private and public testimony, Cheney communicated with Hutchinson, both directly and through an intermediary &mdash; Alyssa Farah Griffin &mdash; [a former Trump aide, now a co-host on &ldquo;The View&rdquo;] while Hutchinson was represented by her attorney, Stefan Passantino. The Select Committee conducted six transcribed interviews of Hutchinson in total.
