And Virginia&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Virginia_Use_of_Legislative_Congressional_Redistricting_Map_Amendment_(April_2026)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ballot question on redistricting<\/a> is the latest proof.<\/p>\n<p>The ballot question is not merely a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/another-city-is-about-to-declare-itself-a-sanctuary-city-for-the-unborn\/\" title=\"Another City Is About To Declare Itself A Sanctuary City For The Unborn\">political power play<\/a>. First and foremost, it&rsquo;s an act of contempt for voters and the voting process itself. It&rsquo;s naked disdain for the democracy they&rsquo;re always pretending to care about.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Second, it serves as a censorship tool because it&rsquo;s meant to deliberately erase the voices of half of Virginians, particularly those living in rural areas who will lose any chance at being represented in Congress. Rather than the 6-5 edge they have now, a margin that more closely reflects the popular voting patterns in the state, the Democrats in Richmond are aiming for a 10-1 advantage. Virginia Republicans might as well live in San Francisco or Mayor Mamdani&rsquo;s New York.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We can all predict what will happen next. Just like the People&rsquo;s Republic of Maryland, Democrats will later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wypr.org\/wypr-news\/2026-01-21\/a-congressional-map-to-make-maryland-8-0-for-democrats-heads-to-general-assembly-for-approval\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">try to oust that very last Republican<\/a> member of Congress so Virginia becomes a one-party state. As with all totalitarians, that&rsquo;s the game plan. And like all totalitarians, they couch their goals in Orwellian verbiage like &ldquo;fairness.&rdquo; Just read this joke of a ballot question for yourself:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Question: Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-rig-virginia-vote-with-misleading-ballot-language-equating-gerrymandering-push-to-fairness\/\" title=\"Dems Rig Virginia Vote With Misleading Ballot Language\">standard redistricting process resumes<\/a> for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Fairness? Give us a break. Temporary? Yeah, sure. No doubt Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger also has a bridge to sell over the <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonian.com\/2026\/01\/30\/so-theres-300-million-gallons-of-poop-water-in-the-potomac-river-now-what\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Poop-tomac River<\/a> to go along with the &ldquo;temporary&rdquo; status of this gerrymandering scheme. Compare the two maps below. First is a fairly <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2026_Virginia_redistricting_amendment%23\/media\/File:Virginia_Congressional_Districts,_118th_Congress_(2).svg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reasonable drawing of districts<\/a> in 2022 that represent the voters in those regions:<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Now, observe the Virginia Democrats&rsquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2026_Virginia_redistricting_amendment%23\/media\/File:Virginia_Congressional_Districts,_120th_Congress_(2026_Redistricting_Amendment).svg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">proposed 2026 octopus map<\/a> that will use the referendum to stick it to rural voters:<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For example, congressional representation of rural Shenandoah County in the northwest of the state would be totally canceled out by a Democrat tentacle that reaches into the densely populated and deep-blue Arlington County. As with all Northern Virginia suburbs that border Washington, D.C., Arlington is an area rife with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=AWFL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AWFLs<\/a> and deep-state government bureaucrats. Ditto for the other appendages that dilute rural representation by stretching into metropolitan Virginia. It&rsquo;s crassly undemocratic. With the exception of the more sparsely populated southwestern area of the state, all of the current rural districts would be <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Redistricting_in_Virginia_ahead_of_the_2026_elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">drawn to cancel out their representation<\/a> in Congress.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Democrats are following California&rsquo;s example of &ldquo;getting even&rdquo; with the Republican-dominated Texas legislature for redrawing its congressional districts last year. California Gov. Gavin Newsom already won a ballot measure for doing so at the same time Spanberger was elected in November 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, both <a href=\"https:\/\/wedrawthelines.ca.gov\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">California<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/law.lis.virginia.gov\/vacodefull\/title30\/chapter62\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Virginia<\/a> are trashing the bipartisan commissions they set up <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/State-by-state_redistricting_procedures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">for fairness in redistricting.<\/a> Texas doesn&rsquo;t have such a commission, but that&rsquo;s really not the point. Gerrymandering started over 200 years ago, and it was corrupt then and is even more corrupt now. What&rsquo;s different is that California and Virginia Democrats are mid-decade overriding the commissions that were approved by their voters in 2008 and 2020, respectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Contempt for Rural Citizens<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It&rsquo;s no secret that Democrats have always harbored a lot of disdain for rural voters. Hillary Clinton famously lumped them in as &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/hillary-clinton-deplorables-defense-donald-trump-1959646\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deplorables<\/a>.&rdquo; In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/ben-smith\/2008\/04\/obama-on-small-town-pa-clinging-to-religion-guns-xenophobia-007737\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Obama-speak<\/a>, that translates to bitter clingers or, in Biden-speak, &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7160817\/joe-biden-garbage-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">garbage<\/a>.&rdquo; The left has a whole stash of other nasty tags for traditional and normal folks, including &ldquo;white supremacists,&rdquo; &ldquo;fascists,&rdquo; &ldquo;bigots,&rdquo; &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Bring-Back-Your-People-Nationalism\/dp\/1506494552\/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2BPA9DX94XFQ0&amp;dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.XdWj9GCUnWL4r_ScmicBJ1ky3IFUBv7kpc3B-P3wInii7x41YfWPogbyF8RHxW2cpnMVzOQ5oBBgAkU5ZcY3IgbKiWyqyJaMASmrEh4mRtGxNH_Xdm-iZlXaHXsdarn_rp743xsrcA-gY2w14OyvqVz62tayIudhyQYsB7bfoNbsH9iq1NiCa4DINnL_2gZQKp3EsAa50ZtOLYBQ8S6CpqodlMfJDkdlM4e-RxZ84CQ.XJ3hbSSVPgp2faRHvkmfWLQs1LxRACDxveAWpzzxglE&amp;dib_tag=se&amp;keywords=bring+back+your+people&amp;qid=1740700262&amp;sprefix=bring+back+your+p,aps,126&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">white Christian nationalists<\/a>,&rdquo; or just plain &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article\/berkeley-instructor-rural-americans-bad-people\/13975\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bad people<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Remarkably, Democrats often <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenation.com\/article\/politics\/democrats-elections-rural-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claim<\/a> they want to win over rural voters. Yet when it comes to hiding their scorn for them, they&rsquo;re hopelessly incontinent. For example, &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ruralgroundgame.org\/why-its-important\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rural GroundGame<\/a>&rdquo; is the name of one such leftist program to convert rural voters. The director of that program in Virginia summarized the Democrats&rsquo; broader strategy with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpennsylvania.com\/articles\/2025\/06\/03\/corry_illustrates_the_urban-rural_divide_in_pa_1114260.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this choice quote<\/a>: &ldquo;We have the best policies, you dumb hicks.&rdquo; Of course, Rural GroundGame <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ruralgroundgame.org\/voteyes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">is all in<\/a> on depriving rural voters of representation.<\/p>\n<p>Several other outlets seeking to convert rural voters to a left-wing outlook go by names like The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyyonder.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Yonder<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newruralproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Rural Project<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ruralurbanbridge.org\/the-rural-urban-divide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RuralUrbanBridge.org<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UfZMvCCmOv4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Obama&rsquo;s Change Collective<\/a>. Democrats know they ignore these voters at their peril, as Trump&rsquo;s elections have shown.<\/p>\n<p>But aside from getting a little traction with some &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/americanmind.org\/salvo\/hicklibs-on-parade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hicklibs<\/a>&rdquo; who would <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >attend drag queen events back<\/a> when that was a thing, rural America is still problematic for Democrats. Hence, the current play in Virginia is simply to disenfranchise them altogether.<\/p>\n<p>In short, this power grab just ahead of midterms is obscenely obvious. I had always thought that &ldquo;Democracy dies in darkness&rdquo; was not a mere slogan of The Washington Post but was actually the Democrat corporate media&rsquo;s mission statement, with democracy in their crosshairs.
