Endorsed by Donald Trump, Fuller will serve the remainder of Greene\u2019s term through January 2027, becoming the 218th Republican in the House and increasing the GOP margin to four seats. The win for Fuller brings the GOP margin in the House up to four, as Fuller will become the 218th Republican member.<\/p>\n<p>The former district attorney will serve the remainder of the term in Georgia&rsquo;s 14th Congressional District until it expires in January 2027.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>Neither Fuller nor Harris initially reached the 50% threshold required in the first round of special election voting, bringing the two top finishers to Tuesday&rsquo;s runoff. Harris, a retired Army brigadier general, previously ran against Greene in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Fuller&rsquo;s 15-point margin over Harris is a double-digit difference from Greene&rsquo;s. Green defeated Harris in 2024 by a 28.8-point margin, earning 64.4% of the vote compared to Harris&rsquo;s 35.6%. In 2022, Greene defeated her Democratic opponent Marcus Flowers by a 31.8-point margin.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans expected to take the seat, in a deep-red district, easily in the runoff, with Democrats <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4517499\/democrats-hope-sign-2026-blue-wave-mtg-special-election\/\">looking for a close margin<\/a> of under 10 points to call it a successful night.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If it&rsquo;s under 10 points, I think that that would show that momentum, enthusiasm, and, quite frankly, partisan vote-flipping is continuing to move in Democrats&rsquo; directions,&rdquo; Democratic operative Jon Reinish <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4517499\/democrats-hope-sign-2026-blue-wave-mtg-special-election\/\">told<\/a> the&nbsp;<em>Washington Examiner<\/em> before election night.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >15-point margin doesn&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t make that mark, but it does cut Greene&rsquo;s previous margin over Harris by nearly half.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4517499\/democrats-hope-sign-2026-blue-wave-mtg-special-election\/\">DEMOCRATS HOPE FOR SIGN OF A 2026 BLUE WAVE WITH MTG SUCCESSION RACE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Greene <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3895734\/marjorie-taylor-greene-resigns-congress\/\">announced her retirement<\/a> from Congress in November after her falling out with Trump, who endorsed Fuller for the seat before Greene resigned.<\/p>\n<p>With Fuller becoming the 218th GOP member of Congress, he brings the vacancies down to two in the House. There are 214 Democrats and one independent, Rep.
