Circuit Court of Appeals that <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/ap\/ap-politics\/ap-appeals-court-upholds-steve-bannons-contempt-of-congress-conviction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">upheld<\/a> a 2022 criminal conviction of Bannon. The conservative commentator was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/after-latest-arrest-its-clear-that-drag-queen-story-hour-is-a-haven-for-child-predators\/\" title=\"After Latest Arrest, It\u2019s Clear That \u2018Drag Queen Story Hour\u2019 Is A Haven For Child Predators\">previously charged<\/a> by the Biden Justice Department with contempt of Congress after ignoring a subpoena from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/06\/here-are-the-top-10-lies-of-liz-cheney-and-the-january-6th-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">discredited<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/jan-6-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">House Select Committee on Jan. 6<\/a>. Bannon <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/supreme-court-capitol-riot-bannon-trump-4a4cf324096fc1bfed204d42b54d191e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly<\/a> argued that his testimony was protected by the president&rsquo;s invocation of executive privilege. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-880381628\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>As The Federalist reported, Bannon was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/01\/bannon-sentencing-proves-the-democrats-lawfare-campaign-goes-far-beyond-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sentenced<\/a> to four months in federal prison following his conviction. He was ultimately <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/29\/bannon-released-from-prison-warns-of-impending-election-steal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">released<\/a> in October 2024. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to vacating the D.C. Appeals Court&rsquo;s decision, the Supreme Court remanded the case back to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/court-fontes-ignored-arizona-law-when-drafting-election-rules\/\" title=\"Court: Fontes Ignored Arizona Law When Drafting Election Rules\">appellate court &#038;ldquo<\/a>;for further consideration in light of the pending motion to dismiss the indictment.&rdquo; As <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2026\/04\/06\/supreme-court-could-dismiss-contempt-charges-against-steve-bannon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a> by The Daily Caller, the Trump administration &ldquo;filed a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.237438\/gov.uscourts.dcd.237438.207.0_1.pdf\">motion<\/a>&nbsp;to dismiss the case against Bannon in February.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >high court&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s order &ldquo;frees a trial judge to act&rdquo; on the Trump administration&rsquo;s request for dismissal, according to the left-wing <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/supreme-court-capitol-riot-bannon-trump-4a4cf324096fc1bfed204d42b54d191e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Associated Press<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>In their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/DocketPDF\/25\/25-453\/379338\/20251010090054995_USSC%20Petition%20for%20Writ%20of%20Certiorari.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">petition<\/a> to SCOTUS, Bannon&rsquo;s attorneys argued that the case was worthy of consideration &ldquo;because it raises serious separation-of-powers concerns, and [the Supreme Court] has repeatedly granted review to address committee authority and whether certain objections must be presented to the committee for purposes of [federal law].&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;&lsquo;Because the questions presented in this petition are vital to individual liberty and implicate the separation of powers between Congress and the Executive,&rsquo; this Court should grant review on both questions presented,&rdquo; the petition reads. <\/p>\n<p>Bannon was one of several Republican-aligned figures that the Biden administration targeted with lawfare in the years following Trump&rsquo;s departure from office.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden DOJ also notably <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/02\/peter-navarro-recounts-how-biden-lawfare-turned-him-into-a-political-prisoner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charged<\/a> longtime Trump adviser Peter Navarro with contempt of Congress after he declined a subpoena to testify before the J6 Committee.
