South Pars fuels about 80% of the natural gas that powers Iran&rsquo;s electric grid. Located in the Persian Gulf, South Pars is jointly owned by Qatar.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>The last time Israel attacked South Pars as part of Operation Roaring Lion, President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"4\">Donald Trump<\/a> wrote a scathing Truth Social post in which he said the U.S. &ldquo;knew nothing about this particular attack.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar &ndash; In which instance the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before,&rdquo; Trump posted on March 18, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116253388303392718\">following Israel&rsquo;s first attack <\/a>on South Pars. <\/p>\n<p>The Monday strike on the facility is significant in its timing, as it comes just one day before the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4516554\/what-could-happen-trump-hormuz-deadline\/\">deadline<\/a> Trump gave Iran to strike a peace deal or reopen the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/strait-of-hormuz\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"21488\">Strait of Hormuz<\/a> before the United States resumes attacks on the country&rsquo;s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/power-plants\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"943\">power plant<\/a> infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli military attacked Iran&rsquo;s most critical natural gas infrastructure and claimed credit for the &ldquo;powerful strike&rdquo;
