The allegations appeared to have<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2054707\/ilhan-omar-accused-of-marrying-brother-by-old-friend\/\"> gained traction in 2020 <\/a>when a Minnesota man told the <em>Daily Mail <\/em>the Democratic congresswoman married her brother to help him gain citizenship in the U.S. The FBI <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1970022\/fbi-exploring-evidence-that-ilhan-omar-may-have-married-her-brother-report\/\">reportedly investigated<\/a> the matter that year, and President Donald Trump has <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3815103\/trump-ilhan-omar-impeached-married-brother\/\">continued to raise concerns <\/a>that the allegations could be true.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Vance told host Benny Johnson this week that he has &ldquo;recently&rdquo; held conversations with senior White House adviser <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/stephen-miller\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"2967\">Stephen Miller<\/a> on legal avenues to &ldquo;go after&rdquo; Omar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&lsquo;We&rsquo;re trying to look at what the remedies are. That&rsquo;s the thing that we&rsquo;re trying to figure out: What are the legal remedies now that we know that she&rsquo;s committed immigration fraud? How do you go after her? How do you investigate, or how do you actually do the thing? Conservatives have targeted Minnesota&rsquo;s Somali community as the primary perpetrators of the fraud, which mostly involved money laundering in federal and state-run welfare programs.
