Bernie Sanders and Rep. Greg Casar have introduced the Home team Act, wich would <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >require professional sports team owners<\/a> too offer their teams to local governments and investors before relocating across state lines or to a new metro area. The bill would impose at least a one-year notice period, during which local buyers could purchase the team at fair market value, persistent by autonomous appraisers, with the Green Bay Packers\u2019 community ownership model cited as an example. If a local buyer cannot pay, relocation could proceed, but owners would face penalties for noncompliance and governments could seek legal action. Proponents argue the measure would keep teams rooted in their communities and protect fans and taxpayers from undue subsidies, noting the Raiders\u2019 relocation as an example of why such protections are needed. Greg Casar (D-TX) introduced legislation on Thursday requiring professional <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/sports\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"8770\">sports team owners<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-york-moving-to-ban-gas-hookups-in-new-homes\/\" title=\"New York Moving to Ban Gas Hookups in New Homes\">give local governments<\/a> and investors a chance to buy their teams before relocating.<\/p>\n<p>Dubbed the Home Team Act, the bill would limit team owners from moving their franchise across state lines or into new metro areas without first giving local investors the opportunity to purchase the team.
