The piece argues that while there are clear similarities, Newsom has not committed the atrocities of the character, and the comparison mainly serves as a critique of his public image. It criticizes Newsom’s <a href="https://www.conservativenewsdaily.net/breaking-news/media-say-bidens-female-led-comms-is-a-first-trump-has-that-now/" title="Media Say Biden's Female-Led Comms Is A First. The article cites a string of provocative posts and mocked “presidential” schemes, including social media messages and memes, suggesting that such stunts often illuminate more about the messengers than about any real political plan. It concludes that this approach is unlikely to yield substantive traction and humorously contemplates a future campaign slogan, hinting that the public’s response has mostly been memes rather than meaningful political support.

The joke nickname for California Gov. Instead, the strategy largely backfired: the Bateman comparison drew mockery and polarization, not serious political traction. Several pundits mocked the stunt or used it to lampoon Newsom’s messaging, with one line of commentary imagining a future where a pro-Newsom bumper sticker riffs on the Huey Lewis gag.
