It&rsquo;s directly in response to what other states decided to do and a president who says that he&rsquo;s &lsquo;entitled&rsquo; to more Republican seats before this year&rsquo;s midterms,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oZNkQcxhV0c\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oZNkQcxhV0c\">Spanberger said in the advertisement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Virginia governor, who campaigned on being a more centrist, affordability-focused Democrat, has been entangled in Democratic redistricting efforts since taking office. She <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4448796\/abigail-spanberger-sends-abortion-same-sex-marriage-amendments-voters\/\">signed off on the bill<\/a> to hold the redistricting referendum in early February, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ChazNuttycombe\/status\/2019778047247831085?s=20\">stating<\/a> that it was &ldquo;the work of the legislature&rdquo; and a &ldquo;temporary and responsive effort to redistrict.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>She underscored similar points in the video ad released Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our approach is different: It&rsquo;s temporary. It preserves Virginia&rsquo;s fair redistricting process into the future. At this extraordinary moment, I urge all Virginians to join me in voting yes by April 21,&rdquo; Spanberger said.<\/p>\n<p>The redistricting effort has largely been partisan and has been challenged in court, though the state&rsquo;s Supreme Court gave the elections board the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4457454\/virginia-supreme-court-gives-go-ahead-statewide-referendum-redistricting\/\">go-ahead to hold the referendum<\/a> scheduled for April 21. <\/p>\n<p>Former Gov. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/glenn-youngkin\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"1456\">Glenn Youngkin<\/a> has vehemently opposed the Democratic redistricting push, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GlennYoungkin\/status\/2029694036622069939?s=20\">calling<\/a> it an &ldquo;unconstitutional, illegal power grab to gerrymander the Commonwealth.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Far left politicians in the capital are trying to overturn the will of the people. Why? Because they want more power. That&rsquo;s it. They want to disenfranchise millions of Virginians to gain more power for themselves.
