Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent argued that the move would not give Iran easy access to money and that the United States would continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/treasury-sanctions-chinese-lebanese-terror-financiers\/\" title=\"Treasury ... But I want to have the system be lubricated.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the easing of sanctions on Iranian oil Friday, as oil supplies have been limited due to Iran&rsquo;s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bessent described the order as a &ldquo;narrowly tailored, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >short-term authorization&#038;rdquo<\/a>; that permits the sale of Iranian oil already stranded at sea, and said it would bring 140 million barrels of oil to global markets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The treasury secretary also argued that Iran would have &ldquo;difficulty&rdquo; accessing any money generated by the sales, and that the U.S. would &ldquo;continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) criticized the Trump administration&rsquo;s decision to ease sanctions against Iran&rsquo;s oil, saying &ldquo;every single day, this war makes less and less sense.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;re going to give Iran $14 billion to fund this war with the United States,&rdquo; Murphy said during an appearance on NBC&rsquo;s <em>Meet the Press<\/em> with Kristen Welker. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re going to give Russia billions of dollars to fund their war with Ukraine. We&rsquo;re literally putting money into the pockets of the very nations that we are fighting right now.
