On the same day he announced he would not seek re-election, a Wisconsin Senate Democrats X account posted a mocking message that referenced LinkedIn’s “Open to Work” and drew a note explaining the context, prompting wanggaard to criticize Democrats for caring only about power. The post remained online for days, while Wanggaard’s supporters argued the retirement was due to age and family illness, and his staff urged the Democrats to remove the post. The piece notes Wanggaard represents a swing district and discusses how redistricting has affected its political leanings, with analysts at Sabato’s Crystal Ball rating both Wisconsin chambers as toss-ups. It also includes responses from the Wisconsin Senate Democratic Committee and follow-up coverage about campaign dynamics in the state.

A Democratic Party-linked account mocked a Republican lawmaker’s decision to not seek reelection following multiple deaths in his family and his daughter’s cancer diagnosis.Republican Wisconsin State Sen.
