href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/pennsylvania\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"629\">Pennsylvania<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/georgia\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"164\">Georgia<\/a> to stumping for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>The former Biden official stopped by the Lehigh Valley earlier this month to hold an event with Bob Brooks, who&rsquo;s running to flip Pennsylvania&rsquo;s 7th Congressional District by defeating incumbent Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA). Buttigieg did the same in former Rep. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/marjorie-taylor-greene\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"776\">Marjorie Taylor Greene&rsquo;s<\/a> deep-red congressional district, where he campaigned for Democrat Shawn Harris last weekend ahead of Georgia&rsquo;s April 7 runoff election.<\/p>\n<p>In <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/alabama\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"1172\">Alabama<\/a>, Buttigieg stood in solidarity with the black community in Selma to commemorate the 61st anniversary of Bloody Sunday &mdash; a turning point for the 1960s Civil Rights movement. During his outreach visit, he also spoke at a unity breakfast and a local Baptist church.<\/p>\n<p>In a new interview with <em>Politico<\/em>, the former Cabinet secretary explained his 2026 strategy is to visit as many states as possible to reach ordinary voters.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;re trying to get everywhere we can,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Including places in the same way that &mdash; you know, I think Fox News is this kind of place &mdash; places where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/strong-turnout-in-frances-high-stakes-elections-as-support-for-the-far-right-grows-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Strong turnout in France\u2019s high...stakes elections as support for the far right grows ... Washington Examiner\">people don&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t hear enough from us, because I think there are potential members of our coalition to be found.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg revealed he wants to help build a Democratic version of the populist <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/maga\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"7710\">MAGA<\/a> coalition that ardently supports President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"4\">Donald Trump<\/a>. He credited Trump for starting the MAGA movement.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It is really important that we understand what it means that this president stitched together this very unlikely crew that includes traditional Republicans, libertarians, authoritarians, and white nationalists,&rdquo; the Michigan Democrat said. &ldquo;We have to have a bigger, better, different coalition.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m very focused on coalition right now, and that includes pillars of our Democratic coalition, like the building trades workers I was with in Toledo or in Nevada, and certainly Black voters who are so vital to the past, present and future of the party,&rdquo; he said in the interview.<\/p>\n<p>In the coming weeks, Buttigieg is set to visit <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/north-carolina\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"552\">North Carolina<\/a>, where he&rsquo;ll campaign for Democrats, as he did in Pennsylvania and Georgia. He will also travel to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/oklahoma\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"715\">Oklahoma<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/montana\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"551\">Montana<\/a>, two red states. In the latter, he is expected to promote &ldquo;The Montana Plan,&rdquo; a ballot initiative designed to prevent corporations from contributing money to political candidates or ballot issues in the state.<\/p>\n<p>There are no confirmed dates for the trips yet.<\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma and Montana both have their primaries in June, two weeks apart, and North Carolina held its primary at the start of March. The highest-profile race in the state was for an open <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/senate\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"8765\">Senate<\/a> seat, which former North Carolina Gov. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/roy-cooper\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"1063\">Roy Cooper<\/a> is seeking to flip. It remains unclear which Democratic candidates Buttigieg will be supporting in North Carolina&rsquo;s political races.<\/p>\n<p>Two other possible Democratic presidential candidates, Gov. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gavin-newsom\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"1426\">Gavin Newsom<\/a> (D-CA) and former Vice President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kamala-harris\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"748\">Kamala Harris<\/a>, recently toured the nation to promote their respective memoirs. Book tours are often a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >common tool prospective candidates employ<\/a> to test the waters in certain states.<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg has no confirmed memoir in the works, but he is gauging voters on how they feel about the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/trump-administration\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"339\">Trump administration<\/a> with his multistate stops.<\/p>\n<p>As for whether he plans on running for president in two years, he isn&rsquo;t sure yet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4485941\/democrats-running-for-president-2028\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4485941\/democrats-running-for-president-2028\/\">THE DEMOCRATS WHO COULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT IN 2028<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t know,&rdquo; he answered <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/bridgemi.com\/business-watch\/michigans-buttigieg-i-dont-know-if-presidential-run-will-come-in-2028\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/bridgemi.com\/business-watch\/michigans-buttigieg-i-dont-know-if-presidential-run-will-come-in-2028\/\">when asked<\/a> by public policy nonprofit group Bridge Michigan. Cultivating the imagination of the Democratic Party is &ldquo;one of the things I&rsquo;m working on every day,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2020 Democratic primary, Buttigieg won the Iowa caucuses and came in second in the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary. Serving as mayor of South Bend, Indiana, at the time, he dropped out of the presidential race and subsequently endorsed <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"471\">Joe Biden<\/a>.
