She added that this bill only gained momentum to pass in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;But if you go point by point through most of the Democrats&rsquo; objections to the SAVE America Act, and we&rsquo;ve done that at the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>, most of them don&rsquo;t stand up to scrutiny,&rdquo; Bedford said. &ldquo;This idea that married women, for example, won&rsquo;t be able to register to vote if they&rsquo;ve had their name changed legally.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pf63Ls3uWTM?si=n5TSfOgSPifxLSDP&amp;start=5391\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>    <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That&rsquo;s just not the case, and so Democrats don&rsquo;t really have a cohesive argument against the SAVE Act, and that&rsquo;s what Republicans are sort of banking on, why they wanted these open conversations on the floor of the U.S. Congress because it&rsquo;s so difficult for Democrats to hold the line against something that&rsquo;s so popular,&rdquo; Bedford said.<\/p>\n<p>Bedford also said it would be &ldquo;great&rdquo; if Senate leadership could engage in &ldquo;a real debate&rdquo; on the SAVE America Act while ending the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/infrastructure\/4494902\/storms-dhs-shutdown-flights-airports-delays\/\">Department of Homeland Security partial shutdown<\/a>. She added that Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) bringing the SAVE America Act to the floor gives Republicans the chance to have Democrats explain their opposition, even if the bill does not have enough votes to pass.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/fairness-justice\/4494207\/libertarians-allow-democrats-hold-country-hostage-save-act\/\"><strong>LIBERTARIANS ALLOW DEMOCRATIC MINORITY TO HOLD THE COUNTRY HOSTAGE OVER SAVE ACT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Senate <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/4494576\/senate-republicans-kick-off-debate-save-america-act\/\">began a dayslong debate<\/a> over the SAVE America Act on Tuesday. Trump said earlier this month that <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4484695\/trump-wont-sign-other-bills-save-america-act\/\">he would not sign any other bills<\/a> until the Senate passes the SAVE America Act, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4485502\/trump-would-sign-legislation-reopen-dhs-despite-save-act-threat\/\">giving an exception to DHS funding<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Washington Examiner <\/em>chief political correspondent Byron York said Tuesday that Republicans giving up their talking filibuster on the SAVE America Act to pass DHS funding <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/4495589\/senate-gop-save-act-filibuster-reform-byron-york\/\">would be a &ldquo;very <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-gop-giving-up-save-act-filibuster-would-turn-down-major-reform-byron-york\/\" title=\"...
