Their sentences were upheld by Iran\u2019s Supreme Court. The three men, including an Iranian national wrestling team member, were <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/iran-executes-three-individuals-arrested-over-january-protests-state-media-2026-03-19\/\">reportedly<\/a> convicted of killing two police officers during the national demonstrations. Their sentences were recently upheld by Iran&rsquo;s Supreme Court, according to Iranian state media.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The executions occurred in the city of Qom, Iran, a notably religious municipality in the country, according to <em>Reuters<\/em>. In addition to the murder charges, the executed men were found guilty of violating Iran&rsquo;s Islamic penal code, violation of &ldquo;waging war against God,&rdquo; known as <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/depts\/los\/LEGISLATIONANDTREATIES\/PDFFILES\/IRN_national_legislation.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Moharebeh<\/a>. The accusations that Ghasemi, Mohammadi, and Davoudi were associated with the U.S. and Israel are a frequent accusation Iranian regime officials make against dissidents, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/iranhr.net\/en\/articles\/8610\/\">Mohammadi<\/a> was 19 years old and on Iran&rsquo;s national wrestling team.&nbsp;He was originally arrested on January 15. In January, Iran&rsquo;s prosecutor general, Mohammad Movahedi, declared the protests were &ldquo;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/01\/21\/world\/middleeast\/iran-protests-crushed.html?campaign_id=346&amp;emc=edit_wor_20260122&amp;instance_id=169663&amp;nl=the-world&amp;regi_id=251287128&amp;segment_id=214041&amp;user_id=cacf4b228705dfb5d9ecd5ab354cf678\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">squashed<\/a>&rdquo; and that the &ldquo;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/world\/4428893\/iran-officials-say-protests-over-after-4000-killed\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sedition is over now<\/a>.&rdquo; Iranian state media listed the number of fatalities from the protests at over 3100 people. However, the NGO Human Rights Activists in Iran suggested the number of fatalities was much higher, claiming over 4900 protesters were killed and nearly 26,000 arrested.
