Nebraska law <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/nebraskalegislature.gov\/laws\/statutes.php?statute=32-624\">allows<\/a> candidates who file &ldquo;for the purpose of creating confusion among the electors&rdquo; and not in good faith to be refused from the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>Burbank&rsquo;s campaign website argues that Democratic candidate William Forbes is a plant candidate for Sen. Pete Ricketts (R-NE). Her website argues Ricketts &ldquo;is putting in a candidate loyal to him in the DEMOCRATIC primary &mdash; to split the vote against him, so he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-reporter-warns-polls-are-imperfect-and-far-from-accurate-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"CNN reporter warns polls are \u2018imperfect\u2019 and \u2018far from accurate\u2019 - Washington Examiner\">wins easily<\/a>.&rdquo; Ricketts&rsquo;s campaign has <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/nebraskaexaminer.com\/2026\/03\/03\/nebraska-u-s-senate-race-filled-with-alleged-plants-campaigns-say\/\">denied<\/a> any involvement with the Democratic primary race.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He knows he&rsquo;s losing to Dan Osborn and this is his plan to cheat his way to victory.&nbsp;We&nbsp;can&rsquo;t let that happen. Support me &mdash; and I&rsquo;ll make sure Pete Ricketts&rsquo;s stooge never gets anywhere near our November ballot!&rdquo; Burbank&rsquo;s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/cindyburbank.com\/\">website<\/a> reads.<\/p>\n<p>Ricketts and independent candidate Osborn are likely to face off in the general election as the two most popular candidates in the Senate race. The Nebraska Democratic Party has not endorsed a Democrat for the Senate seat and instead <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/nebraskademocrats.org\/blog\/ndp-press-release-statement-on-u-s-senate-candidate-william-forbes\/\">said<\/a> that Osborn &ldquo;represents the best opportunity to defeat&rdquo; Ricketts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/4464217\/pete-ricketts-endorse-wife-susanne-shore\/\">NEBRASKA REPUBLICAN CROSSES PARTY LINES TO ENDORSE WIFE FOR REGENT SEAT<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The race has seen several allegations of &ldquo;plant candidates,&rdquo; like that from Burbank against Forbes. Mike Marvin, the Legal Marijuana Now Party candidate, has also fielded allegations from the party&rsquo;s former chair that he is a plant in favor of Osborn.
