The doctor may have deflected, blaming your cruel health insurance company for refusing to cover the cost of the test. If this has happened to you, don&rsquo;t worry: The California legislature has your back.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1043727817\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tuesday in Sacramento, the <a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/CA\/bill\/AB1876\/2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Assembly Health Committee<\/a> will take up <a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202520260AB1876\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AB 1876<\/a>, a bill to forbid &ldquo;gender discrimination&rdquo; by health insurance companies. From the legislative introduction: &ldquo;The bill would prohibit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/forcing-churches-to-pay-for-abortions-is-unconstitutional-california-federal-court-rules\/\" title=\"Forcing Churches To Pay for Abortions Is Unconstitutional, ... Federal Court Rules\">health care service plan<\/a> or health insurer from taking specified actions relating to providing access to health programs and activities, including, but not limited to, denying or limiting health care services to an individual based upon the individual&rsquo;s sex assigned at birth, gender identity, or gender otherwise recorded.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>So if this bill passes, you can&rsquo;t be denied any type of care in California because of the sex you were &ldquo;assigned at birth&rdquo; when an obstetrician viciously looked at your so-called genitals. Your <em>declared<\/em> gender identity will determine what tests and care you can get. If you don&rsquo;t have a uterus or ovaries but still want to be tested for pregnancy, the health care industry won&rsquo;t be allowed to be mean to you.<\/p>\n<p>The bill was introduced by Assemblymember <a href=\"https:\/\/addis.asmdc.org\/full-biography\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dawn Addis<\/a>, a Democrat from the Central Coast, who, you&rsquo;ll be shocked to hear, is a former teacher, a former union leader, and a former Planned Parenthood regional board member. Moments later she describes AB 1876 as a rebuke to Donald Trump&rsquo;s cruelty and bigotry. <\/p>\n<p>So remember: When you have your male sexual anatomy tested for cervical cancer next year, you&rsquo;ll be standing up to Trump.
