At the time,&nbsp; authorities attributed Epstein&rsquo;s death to suicide, an assessment that the FBI reiterated last year. The development comes after newly released documents from the Justice Department revealed that the prison guard Googled &ldquo;latest on Epstein in jail&rdquo; twice, minutes before he was discovered dead in his cell, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/07\/us-news\/prison-guard-googled-jeffrey-epstein-minutes-before-his-body-was-found-and-deposited-thousands-days-before-pedophiles-suicide-doj\/\">according to<\/a> the <em>New York Post.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Due to public reporting, documents released by the Department of Justice, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/left-wing-dark-money-networks-hid-millions-in-the-2020-elections\/\" title=\"Left-Wing \u2018Dark Money\u2019 Networks Hid Millions in the 2020 Elections\">documents obtained<\/a> by the Committee, the Committee believes you have information that will assist in its investigation,&rdquo; Comer wrote <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GOPoversight\/status\/2032466747878527285\">in a letter<\/a> to Noel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another prison guard, Michael Thomas, is the one who discovered Epstein in his cell. Both Thomas and Noel were later fired from their jobs after admitting to falsifying records to say they checked on Epstein throughout the night before his death. Criminal charges against both guards were later dropped in 2022 in a prosecution deal.
