Marjorie Taylor Greene is moving to a runoff after Greene’s resignation. In the jungle primary, Clay Fuller, the district attorney for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, advanced to the runoff, while NBC News’ results showed him in second place behind Democrat Shawn Harris (about 37.3% to 34.9%). The article notes this can be misleading because four of the top five vote-getters were Republicans, adn Cheryl Moore and Brian Stover’s combined shares could push Fuller over the 50% threshold, underscoring how the jungle primary format complicates interpretation of the initial results.

The piece also covers political dynamics around the race. It highlights a notable Trump endorsement of Fuller and Trump’s public support messages, alongside MTG’s public departure from Congress and Trump’s response to her resignation. Fuller’s background is detailed: a former White House Fellow who served in the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Defense, and who later worked as a legal adviser in U.S. Central Command operations. The article frames Fuller as the pro‑Trump candidate favored to win in the runoff, noting MTG’s criticisms of Trump and the broader intra‑party tensions. The runoff is scheduled for April 7, with expectations that Fuller could become the district’s next congressman given the district’s pro‑Trump lean.

Former U.S. Rep. In Georgia’s 14th District special election, Fuller, who serves as the district attorney for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, advanced to a runoff after a jungle primary in which he trailed Democrat Shawn Harris by a small margin in the official count but benefited from the overall Republican vote share. With four of the top five finishers being Republicans, Fuller could reach the 50-percent threshold in the runoff simply because the GOP vote remains split among multiple candidates.

The runoff is scheduled for April 7, and Fuller is considered the heavy favorite, a status bolstered by former President Donald Trump’s endorsement. Trump praised Fuller’s strengths and framed the upcoming vote as a chance to ensure a strong, pro-Trump representative in the district. Some voters cited the endorsement as influential in their decision.

Fuller previously ran for this seat in 2020, finishing behind Greene, who had been a rising GOP figure but grew increasingly controversial. Greene’s tenure included controversy over her foreign-policy positions and conspiratorial focus on Jeffrey Epstein, and she publicly clashed with Trump, who later criticized her. Greene announced she would resign in January amid those tensions, and Trump responded by accusing her of flailing in the race.

Fuller’s résumé includes a White House Fellowship under President Trump (2018-2019), work in the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Defense, and roles related to counterterrorism and the opioid crisis. He also served as a legal adviser to U.S. Central Command in the Middle East and has received military honors. By contrast, Greene’s recent public remarks have continued to reflect her characteristic combative, ideologically hardline style.

Overall, the piece portrays Fuller as a candidate more closely aligned with Trump’s agenda and able to capitalize on the current political climate in a district that Trump carried decisively in 2024.
