Sacko reportedly entered the U.S. in 1998, registered to vote in 2005, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-condemns-texas-abortion-law-media-insists-hes-a-deeply-catholic-president\/\" title=\"Biden Condemns Texas Abortion Law. Media Insists He\u2019s A \u2018Deeply Catholic\u2019 President\">voted multiple times<\/a> while an immigration judge had ordered his removal; removal orders in 2000 and 2002 were not carried out due to passport issues.If convicted, he could face up to five years in federal prison, and he was released on bail. the Department of Homeland Security said Sacko \u201ccriminal illegal alien\u201d voting occurred and pressed for the SAVE America Act to ensure only U.S. citizens vote. Mahady Sacko was apprehended in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/philadelphia\/\">Philadelphia<\/a>, Pennsylvania, and charged.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sacko, 50, originally entered the country in 1998 and first <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/ice-arrests-noncitizen-allegedly-voting-seven-federal-elections-11650594\">registered<\/a> to vote in 2005, according to court documents. Sacko exhausted all appeals, and the Board of Immigration Appeals upheld his removal on November 14, 2002 &mdash; over two decades ago.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Philadelphia Inquirer<\/em> reported Sacko was registered as a Democrat.<\/p>\n<p>He is originally from Mauritania and has been living illegally in Philadelphia for more than two decades. An immigration judge originally ordered his deportation in 2000, but federal authorities never followed through with it because Sacko did not have a valid Mauritanian passport,&rdquo; according to the <em>Philadelphia Inquirer<\/em>. Instead, he was allowed to remain in the U.S. and began voting in U.S. elections.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;According to the affidavit, he went on to vote in five federal general elections and two primary elections over the next two decades,&rdquo; the <em>Philadelphia Inquirer <\/em>reported. &ldquo;Prosecutors charged him only with casting a ballot in the 2024 election.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Lauren Bis, the newly appointed deputy assistant secretary of the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-homeland-security\/\">Department of Homeland Security<\/a>, criticized Sacko&rsquo;s felony and stressed that illegal immigrants are not permitted to vote in U.S. elections.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/op-eds\/4486270\/americans-democrats-ice-poll-gavin-newsom-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-kamala-harris\/\"><strong>POLL: AMERICANS VIEW ICE MORE POSITIVELY THAN DEMOCRATS, NEWSOM, AND AOC<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This criminal illegal alien committed a felony by voting in <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >federal elections dating back<\/a> to 2008,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2026\/03\/09\/ice-arrests-criminal-illegal-alien-who-voted-seven-federal-elections-2008\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Bis. &ldquo;Illegal aliens should NOT be electing American leaders. Our elections belong to American citizens, not foreign citizens.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bis referenced Sacko&rsquo;s illegal voting as a reason to support the SAVE America Act to ensure that only American citizens are voting in elections.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Congress must pass the SAVE America Act immediately to secure our elections,&rdquo; Bis said.<\/p>\n<p>If convicted, Sacko could face up to five years in federal prison.
