Peterson&#8217;s \u2018Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life&#8217;<\/strong><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li class>\n\t\t\t\t<a class=\"text-black block mb-3 pb-3 border-b border-white\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/coronavirus\/the-communitarian-revolt-against-government-lockdowns\/\"><strong>The Communitarian Revolt Against Government Lockdowns<\/strong><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>All four Republican governors issued proclamations in response, declaring upcoming meat days and even meat months as a show of solidarity with America&#8217;s ranchers.&nbsp;Nebraska governor Pete Ricketts <a href=\"https:\/\/governor.nebraska.gov\/press\/gov-ricketts-designates-march-20th-%E2%80%9Cmeat-menu-day%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/governor.nebraska.gov\/press\/gov-ricketts-designates-march-20th-%25E2%2580%259Cmeat-menu-day%25E2%2580%259D&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1616268733376000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHAWHCe2IUXn5T0g_JrgDk-BZQSHg\" data-mt-detrack-inspected=\"true\" data-mt-detrack-attachment-inspected=\"true\">declared<\/a> March 20 to be Meat on the Menu Day, explicitly urging Nebraskans to &#8220;purchase and eat beef, pork, chicken, lamb, or another kind of meat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In Montana, Governor Greg Gianforte declared Saturday Montana Meat Day but also added that &#8220;every day is meat day in Montana.&#8221; In Wyoming, Governor Mark Gordon, himself a rancher, said his state will celebrate Saturday as Hearty Meat Day.<\/p>\n<p>Not to be outdone, Iowa&#8217;s Kim Reynolds took things up a notch, proclaiming the entire month of April as Meat on the Table Month.<\/p>\n<p>Polis\u2014a meat eater himself\u2014was heralded by&nbsp;People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for staking out an anti-meat position. The radical animal rights group&#8217;s president, Ingrid Newkirk, lauded Polis for &#8220;provok[ing] a nationwide discussion&#8221; about vegan eating, even as over two dozen Colorado counties <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedenverchannel.com\/news\/local-news\/26-colorado-counties-sign-meat-in-proclamations-to-counter-gov-poliss-meat-out-announcement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.thedenverchannel.com\/news\/local-news\/26-colorado-counties-sign-meat-in-proclamations-to-counter-gov-poliss-meat-out-announcement&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1616268733376000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEwIn55busp28aFvzxtByvgTSSygg\" data-mt-detrack-inspected=\"true\" data-mt-detrack-attachment-inspected=\"true\">countered<\/a> his proclamation with &#8220;MeatIn&#8221; days <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1_JzhoBq_P04au20nz2TS1XfxhP8xdagCe0WFZ0PaDg4\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1_JzhoBq_P04au20nz2TS1XfxhP8xdagCe0WFZ0PaDg4\/edit&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1616268733376000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEbaY99PU6wukQU3oGyrghMzdzkXg\" data-mt-detrack-inspected=\"true\" data-mt-detrack-attachment-inspected=\"true\">scheduled<\/a> to coincide with MeatOut day.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to celebrating Polis, PETA is using its resources to attack governors like Ricketts.&nbsp;PETA told the <em>Washington<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Free Beacon<\/em> it will be erecting a billboard on the Colorado-Nebraska border telling drivers they are &#8220;Entering Nebraska, Home of Meathead Governor Ricketts!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Asked by the<em>&nbsp;Free Beacon<\/em> if he views &#8220;meathead&#8221; as an insult, Ricketts said, &#8220;No, not really.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ricketts said the pro-meat day is about educating people about the importance of agricultural industry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Meat on the Menu Day is to educate people about where their food comes from,&#8221; Ricketts told the <em>Free Beacon<\/em>. He added that Polis&#8217;s planned day without meat is a &#8220;direct assault&#8221; on Nebraska&#8217;s way of life and &#8220;undermines food security.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nebraska politicians are celebrating his stand on the issue. Rep. Don Bacon (R.), whose district includes the headquarters of Omaha Steaks, told the <em>Free Beacon<\/em> that Ricketts has his full support in his fight against Colorado&#8217;s assault on meat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This Bacon has absolutely zero beef with Governor Ricketts&#8217;s meat proclamation,&#8221; Bacon said. &#8220;Colorado going meatless is full of baloney.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Wyoming senator Cynthia Lummis (R.), a rancher, celebrated the governors&#8217; meat embrace, telling the <em>Free Beacon<\/em> she has &#8220;a particular appreciation for beef, lamb, bison, yak and other \u2018hearty meats.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m proud to support the farmers, ranchers, and producers whose hard work drives Wyoming&#8217;s economy and keeps steak on our tables,&#8221; Lummis said.<\/p>\n<p>PETA, however, predicts that vegans will ultimately get the last laugh.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We wouldn&#8217;t be surprised at all if even cattle-backed states like these will have vegan governors in a few years,&#8221; a spokesman told the <em>Free Beacon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-8 hide-print\">\n\t\t<!-- \/339474670\/Freebeacon\/InContent --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1526555381173-4\" class=\"mobile-250 desktop-90\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The red meat wars have hit America.
