The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/03\/08\/business\/energy-environment\/oil-100-dollars-barrel.html\">price<\/a> of Brent Crude, the world&rsquo;s benchmark for crude oil, briefly increased <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/03\/08\/business\/energy-environment\/oil-100-dollars-barrel.html\">to near $120 a barrel<\/a> on Monday before later <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.trendingtopics.eu\/oil-surges-past-110-as-middle-east-conflict-chokes-global-supply\/\">falling<\/a> to $110. Oil costs decreased even further later in the day, with U.S. crude oil dropping to about $86 per barrel by late Monday afternoon, NBC News reported. Rages\">crude oil rising<\/a> to $91 per barrel, and Brent Crude increasing to $94.62, shortly before midnight, according to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/03\/10\/crude-oil-prices-today-iran-war.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The drop in prices appeared to be due to the words of President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a>. While speaking at a GOP policy retreat at Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida, the president <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4485890\/trump-says-iran-conflict-short-term-excursion\/\">called<\/a> the military conflict in Iran a &ldquo;little excursion&rdquo; to rid the world &ldquo;of some evil.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We took a little excursion because we felt we had to do that to get rid of some evil, and I think you&rsquo;ll see it&rsquo;s going to be a short-term excursion,&rdquo; Trump said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He also said the &ldquo;war&rdquo; was &ldquo;very complete, pretty much,&rdquo; declaring that Iran&rsquo;s military and communications had been destroyed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think the war is very complete, pretty much,&rdquo; said Trump. &ldquo;They have no navy, no communications.
