Tim Burchett, grilled Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison about alleged fraud and misuse of federal funds under Walz’s management, and about retaliation toward whistleblowers. Burchett cites testimonies from more than 30 whistleblowers who alleged retaliation, while Walz denies knowledge of such retaliation and Ellison notes that his office lacks jurisdiction to prosecute certain cases. The exchange includes questions about restitution and why some fraud-related entities were allowed to dissolve without charges or recovered funds, with Walz and Ellison defending their positions. The article also highlights broader partisan contention, including a video of a highway-safety dispute with Rep. Scott Perry pressing Walz over a law governing CDL licenses for undocumented immigrants and presenting related videos. Throughout, the piece weaves in social media posts and embedded media, such as a YouTube interview excerpt and tweets, to illustrate the rhetoric surrounding the hearing. the report portrays the event as a heated, partisan scrutiny of Minnesota officials over fraud oversight and whistleblower concerns, supplemented by media clips and commentary.

Tennessee Rep.
