Despite the reporter\u2019s longstanding cordial relationship with him, Trump redirected to the event\u2019s focus on college sports and NIL while criticizing the media. I have a lot of respect for you. You&rsquo;ve always been very nice to me. What a stupid question that is to be asking at this time. We&rsquo;re talking about something else.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Trump made a similar statement when another reporter asked how he came to replace Secretary of Homeland Security <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kristi-noem\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"3710\">Kristi Noem<\/a> with Sen. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/markwayne-mullin\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"21441\">Markwayne Mullin<\/a> (R-OK) the day before.<\/p>\n<p>After taking a moment to sigh into the microphone, Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/acyn\/status\/2030055934995882292?s=46\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/acyn\/status\/2030055934995882292?s=46\">replied<\/a>, &ldquo;Is it possible to stay on this subject just for once? You know, just for once? Boy, oh boy. Anybody have any questions on this subject?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The White House held a roundtable on the future of college sports, covering name, image, and likeness issues and federal legislation that Trump says would save collegiate sports. Many <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ncaa\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"582\">NCAA<\/a> representatives and sports figures were invited.<\/p>\n<p>While discussing the current compensation system in college sports, the president went on a tirade against the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/supreme-court\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"203\">Supreme Court<\/a> for unanimously ruling against the NCAA&rsquo;s restrictions on noncash compensation for college athletes in 2021.
