Kennedy<\/a> on the building&rsquo;s exterior in December. Earlier last year, Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3314840\/trump-appoints-himself-chairman-kennedy-center-board\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3314840\/trump-appoints-himself-chairman-kennedy-center-board\/\">appointed himself<\/a> as the board&rsquo;s chairman and named U.S. envoy <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/richard-grenell\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"4203\">Richard Grenell<\/a> as the Kennedy Center&rsquo;s leader.<\/p>\n<p>Grenell said he &ldquo;enjoyed working&rdquo; with Davidson to &ldquo;cultivate new donors and patrons while cleaning up the financial mess&rdquo; at the Kennedy Center, according to the <em>Associated Press<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Following Trump&rsquo;s actions, the Washington National Opera <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/4413631\/washington-national-opera-leaving-trump-kennedy-center\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/4413631\/washington-national-opera-leaving-trump-kennedy-center\/\">decided to end<\/a> its long-running residency at the Kennedy Center in January and start performing at other venues elsewhere in the city. The extensive project, which Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4443938\/trump-200-million-kennedy-center-building-maintenance-wont-include-ripping-it-down\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4443938\/trump-200-million-kennedy-center-building-maintenance-wont-include-ripping-it-down\/\">described<\/a> as &ldquo;fully financed,&rdquo; is expected to cost up to $200 million.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH) filed a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.287972\/gov.uscourts.dcd.287972.13.0.pdf\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.287972\/gov.uscourts.dcd.287972.13.0.pdf\">court motion<\/a> seeking to block the planned closure and renovation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/beatty-asks-court-to-stop-kennedy-center-closure-and-renovation\/\" title=\"... to ... and ...\">recently renamed center<\/a>.
