But Paxton might have some real leverage.<\/p>\n<p>In Tuesday&rsquo;s Texas U.S. Senate primaries, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cornyn-forced-runoff-ken-paxton-outspending-texas-ag-33-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paxton<\/a> finished only 1.2 percentage points behind incumbent GOP Senator John Cornyn. Widely regarded as a Republican in Name Only, or RINO, Cornyn must now fend off Paxton in a May 26 runoff.<\/p>\n<p>Since three in five Texas GOP voters supported someone other than Cornyn, Paxton would appear to have a fighting chance.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/03\/05\/trump-paxton-texas-senate-primary-00814209\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a>, Trump drove another dagger through the hearts of his MAGA supporters by signaling that he might endorse Cornyn to avoid a costly primary that could hurt the GOP in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/impossible-gop-picked-up-seats-in-house-picked-up-state-legislatures-picked-up-governorship-held-the-senate-but-sniffy-joe-won-not-a-chance\/\" title=\"IMPOSSIBLE: GOP Picked Up Seats in House, Picked Up State Legislatures, Picked Up Governorship, Held the Senate -- But Sniffy Joe Won?... Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. Notwithstanding the president&rsquo;s hostility, both have behaved like &ldquo;America First&rdquo; patriots. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/marjorie-taylor-greene-regrets-voting-big-beautiful-bill-seeing-pages-278-279\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greene<\/a> enthusiastically supported the president until early last year.<\/p>\n<p>For many onetime Trump supporters, a Cornyn endorsement would amount to another slap in the face. Instead of draining the Swamp, the president would, in effect, promote the Swamp.<\/p>\n<p>Paxton&rsquo;s offer, therefore, could bring light to an otherwise dark situation. It certainly should get Trump&rsquo;s attention.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Republicans MUST DO, with PASSION, and at the expense of everything else, THE SAVE AMERICA ACT &ndash; And not the watered down version.
