Spencer received 53.5% of the vote, while incumbent john Staley finished with about 26.5%, according to election night reporting. The shooting occurred after Fosler allegedly kidnapped Spencer\u2019s daughter; Spencer then forced Fosler\u2019s vehicle off the road, triggering a shootout in which Fosler was killed and Spencer called 911. At the time of the shooting, Fosler was out on bail after being charged with numerous sexual offenses against Spencer&rsquo;s then-13-year-old daughter from a July incident at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-do-not-care-gov-pulls-a-karen-bass-enjoys-overseas-luxury-while-new-jersey-enters-state-of-emergency\/\" title=\"Dems Do Not Care: Gov Pulls a Karen Bass, Enjoys Overseas Luxury While New Jersey Enters State of Emergency\">family friend&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s house.<\/p>\n<p>In October, Fosler kidnapped Spencer&rsquo;s daughter from their family home. When Spencer found her missing, he got in his truck and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >began searching nearby roads<\/a>. He eventually spotted Fosler&rsquo;s vehicle and forced it off the road, triggering a shootout. It&rsquo;s about every parent, every neighbor, every family who deserves to feel safe in their homes and safe in their community.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Staley, Spencer&rsquo;s competitor, oversaw his arrest in 2024. &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t think Aaron Spencer is a bad person,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/local12.com\/news\/nation-world\/father-killed-predator-child-sheriff-sexual-assault-abuse-dad-kid-children-kids-assaulted-sex-pedophile-pedo-murder-murdered-charge-admit-confess-pled-not-guilty-pleaded-election-republican-nominee-spencer-missing-kidnapped-kidnap-no-contact-order-stalk\">he said.<\/a> &ldquo;I think that he was trying to protect his child, and there&rsquo;s a lot more to this case that I can&rsquo;t even release.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Staley conceded in a Facebook post on Wednesday. &ldquo;Tonight, the voters made their decision in the Republican Primary, and I respect the decision,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ElectJohnStaley\/posts\/pfbid0YyZxev955FCaKAjpwgMAYY68HbbX4Ad5VbeZYq8qoiMKx2eefTDPkyceRh5LNu3Jl\">he wrote<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Spencer&rsquo;s situation gained traction on social media and captured national headlines. &ldquo;Aaron Spencer is a hero, he saved his daughter, and he should not be facing any charges,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/support-aaron-spencer-a-hero-father-facing-unwarranted-charges\">one petition<\/a> signed by over 12,000 people wrote.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We cannot idly stand by and let this man be criminally charged for acting instinctively to protect his family, an act any parent can understand and sympathize with,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/absolve-aaron-david-spencer-of-charges-stemming-from-saving-his-daughter-s-life\">another petition<\/a> signed by over 380,000 people reads.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/gunownersarkansas.org\/defense-fund\/\">state gun rights group<\/a> declared his actions just and set up a fund to support Spencer&rsquo;s legal costs.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Lonoke County sent a clear message last night, and we&rsquo;re just getting started.&rdquo; Spencer said in a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid02qsQDi2iryaUFZzm2sMdw1Bk2LnZwPPwMNcjvSGpMhegxmEjDe1PXYmgWxZKd6BYPl&amp;id=61582302083686\">Facebook statement<\/a> on Wednesday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Spencer&rsquo;s trial, originally scheduled for early January, was postponed.
