There HAVE to be consequences, or they&rsquo;ll keep doing it!&hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tjhnZyPnEP\">pic.twitter.com\/tjhnZyPnEP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nicksortor\/status\/2027110745675010106?\">February 26, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Elon and his team were extremely helpful to me,&rdquo; Noem said. &ldquo;They helped me identify that some of my own employees in my department had downloaded software on my phone and my laptop to spy on me.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Apparently stunned, the host interrupted with, &ldquo;stop it.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Noem told him this was done &ldquo;to record our meetings.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;They had done that to several of the politicals and so we ended up bringing in people.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If you didn&rsquo;t have those technology experts here in the department, looking at all of our laptops and our phones and recognizing that kind of software, it would still be happening today.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Noem&rsquo;s comments remind us there are two reasons to reduce the government workforce.<\/p>\n<p>First, as Musk and DOGE tried to do &mdash; facing immense resistance &mdash; the workforce should shrink to save taxpayer money.<\/p>\n<p>What seemed like a fairly benign effort resulted in vandalism and acts of terrorism against Tesla owners and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pam-bondi-kash-patel-issue-warnings-nabbing-suspect-domestic-terrorist-attack-tesla-dealership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tesla locations<\/a>, a strange, misguided attempt to hurt Musk as the electric-car company&rsquo;s CEO.<\/p>\n<p>The other reason to make cuts is to get rid of these operatives.<\/p>\n<p>The deep state is not simply some boogeyman that&rsquo;s used to conveniently explain away political appointees&rsquo; shortcomings. As Noem noted, it&rsquo;s a very clear and present danger to the American system of government.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The deep state &hellip; What I tell people most of the time is, I always believed, when people talked about the deep state before, that it existed,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;I never would have dreamed that it&rsquo;s as bad as it is.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m still, every day, trying to dig out people who don&rsquo;t love America, that not just work at this department, but also work throughout the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/better-than-expected-u-s-economy-added-638000-jobs-in-october-unemployment-dropped-to-6-9\/\" title=\"Better Than Expected: U.S. Economy Added 638,000 Jobs in October, Unemployment Dropped to 6.9%\">federal government<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>These are bad actors, unelected and looking to hamstring democratically elected officials.<\/p>\n<p>One would imagine, for as much as leftists complain about &ldquo;our democracy&rdquo; being put at risk by a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >democratically elected president &#038;mdash<\/a>; Trump &mdash; that they would be up in arms knowing a group of people that never received a single vote are trying to stop him.<\/p>\n<p>That would be the principled approach.
