Investigators say the mother repeatedly refused abortion and intended to carry the pregnancy to term; Demeter allegedly drugged her after pressuring her to terminate, and investigators believe he acted without her knowledge and with the intent to cause the child\u2019s death. It\u2019s unclear how he obtained the drug, including whether through mail-order channels, but authorities say more charges could follow as evidence is gathered. The sheriff commended the detectives and noted the family\u2019s loss.<\/p>\n<p>The report also notes a similar case in Parker County, where a man was arrested on capital murder charges for allegedly spiking his girlfriend\u2019s drink with an abortion drug. Interviews with Presley Mae&rsquo;s mother revealed that she believed the father of the baby, identified as 25-year-old Jon Rueben Gabriel Demeter, secretly fed her an abortion drug to cause her baby&rsquo;s premature death.<\/p>\n<p>Demeter allegedly resorted to covertly drugging the woman after his attempts to pressure her into abortion, even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbtx.com\/2026\/02\/24\/man-charged-after-covertly-giving-abortion-drug-girlfriend-killing-unborn-child\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly offering to pay for her out-of-state travel<\/a> to end the pregnancy, failed.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The&nbsp;mother repeatedly refused, expressing her firm&nbsp;intent&nbsp;to carry the pregnancy to term,&rdquo; a media release from the Montgomery County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbtx.com\/2026\/02\/24\/man-charged-after-covertly-giving-abortion-drug-girlfriend-killing-unborn-child\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">states<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s unclear whether Demeter used the U.S. Food and Drug Administration&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >radically expanded mail-order mifepristone permissions<\/a> to obtain the abortion pill. Investigators concluded, however, that Demeter likely used the drug &ldquo;without her knowledge&nbsp;and&nbsp;consent with the&nbsp;specific intent to cause&nbsp;the death of the unborn child.&rdquo; That conclusion led law enforcement to officially charge Demeter with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury-family violence. He could face more charges pending further evidence, the Sheriff&rsquo;s office was careful to warn.  <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Montgomery County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office commends the tireless dedication of our detectives, crime scene investigators, prosecutors, and patrol personnel who worked on this difficult and sensitive case,&rdquo; Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle said in a statement. &ldquo;Our thoughts and prayers remain with the mother and her family as they mourn the loss of Presley Mae.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Demeter is not the first Texas man to be arrested for allegedly slipping the mother of his child an abortion pill that caused the death of their unborn child. The Parker County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/11\/tx-man-arrested-after-allegedly-poisoning-his-girlfriend-murdering-his-child-with-abortion-drug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">arrested<\/a> 38-year-old Justin Anthony Banta on a capital murder charge in June 2025 for allegedly spiking his pregnant girlfriend&rsquo;s drink with an abortion drug.<\/p>\n<p>A majority of abortions, 70 percent,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/hidden-epidemic-nearly-70-of-abortions-are-coerced-unwanted-or-inconsistent-with-womens-preferences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">are believed to be unwanted, coerced, or inconsistent<\/a>&nbsp;with the mother&rsquo;s values and desires. The prominence of the abortion pill, especially following the Biden administration&rsquo;s rollback of safeguards that required women to attend an in-person doctor visit before they could obtain a mifepristone prescription, has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/30\/woman-coerced-into-abortion-asks-fda-to-stop-shielding-abusers-and-their-drug-dealers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">undoubtedly<\/a> contributed to the number of babies and women who <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/08\/26\/illinois-man-charged-with-killing-girlfriends-baby-with-abortion-drug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suffer<\/a> the<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/08\/11\/man-allegedly-murdered-his-unborn-baby-by-spiking-her-moms-hot-cocoa-with-abortion-drug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> deadly and dangerous consequences<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/11\/12\/suspended-ohio-doctor-posed-as-ex-wife-to-get-abortion-drugs-then-allegedly-forced-them-on-girlfriend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coerced chemical abortion. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>An October <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/28\/trumps-trusted-pollster-even-pro-aborts-say-mifepristone-is-dangerous-and-needs-fda-regulation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">poll<\/a>&nbsp;found that approximately seven in 10 of the 1,600 respondents agree &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fda-lifts-restriction-on-remote-prescriptions-of-abortion-drugs\/\" title=\"FDA Lifts Restriction on Remote Prescriptions of ...s\">chemical abortion drugs<\/a> are used by sexual abusers to cover up rape, exploitation and sex-trafficking&rdquo; and said doctors should also be required to &ldquo;screen for and report signs of coercion or abuse&rdquo; before prescribing mifepristone.<\/p>\n<p>In early February, a Texas father <a href=\"https:\/\/reproductiverights.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Amended-Complaint.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sued<\/a>&nbsp;California Dr. Remy Coeytaux for allegedly aiding and abetting the murder of two of his unborn babies by illegally mailing mifepristone to the estranged husband of the man&rsquo;s girlfriend. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton identified Coeytaux, an affiliate of abortion drug dealer Aid Access, in his&nbsp;August 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/news\/releases\/attorney-general-ken-paxton-demands-immediate-halt-illegal-abortion-pill-shipments-texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cease and desist orders<\/a>, which threatened &ldquo;further legal action, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/will-a-vaccine-mandate-trigger-the-great-resignation\/\" title=\"Will A Vaccine ...date Trigger The Great Resignation?\">lawsuits seeking injunctive relief<\/a>, and civil penalties of no less than $100,000 per violation under Texas law.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Just this week, Paxton <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/news\/releases\/attorney-general-ken-paxton-sues-radical-network-ships-abortion-drugs-houston-san-antonio-dallas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed a lawsuit<\/a> against Aid Access, Coeytaux, and Dutch physician Rebecca Gomperts for their roles in an &ldquo;International abortion-by-mail enterprise that illegally ships abortion-inducing drugs into Texas in open defiance of state law.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Every unborn child is a life worth protecting, and Texas law reflects that fundamental truth.
