Is there a more damning description than that?<\/p>\n<p>Cannon is the Trump-appointed judge, based in Fort Pierce, Florida, who&rsquo;d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-handed-massive-win-right-assassination-attempt-classified-docs-case-gets-hit-hard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">determined in July 2024<\/a> that Smith&rsquo;s appointment as special counsel was unlawful in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>At that time, Cannon dismissed the classified documents case against Trump and two co-defendants, Walt Nauta, a Trump aide, and Carlos De Oliviera, property manager at the Mar-a-Lago Club, where Trump lives in Palm Beach, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Cannon&rsquo;s ruling Monday came in response to motions filed by Trump and his co-defendants &mdash; motions that were not opposed by the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General Pam Bondi had already determined the report was &ldquo;an internal deliberative communication that is privileged and confidential and should not be released,&rdquo; according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-cannon-justice-department-classified-documents-206d2c926a079a22c74dab2fca09b9c1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In sharper wording, a Justice Department filing in January, according to the AP, described the report as the &ldquo;illicit product of an unlawful investigation and prosecution&rdquo; and declared it &ldquo;belongs in the dustbin of history.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Mouthpieces from the leftist end of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-handling-of-immigration-outperforms-trade-and-economy-poll\/\" title=\"...&#039;s handling of immigration outperforms trade and economy: Poll\">political spectrum disagreed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/msnbc-personalities-panic-over-new-attorney-general-nominee-pam-bondi-worse-than-matt-gaetz\/\" title=\"MSNBC Personalities Panic Over New Attorney General Nominee Pam Bondi: &#039;Worse Than ... Matt Gaetz&#039;\">establishment media won&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t identify them as &ldquo;leftist mouthpieces.&rdquo; They&rsquo;re just &ldquo;nonpartisan.&rdquo; You know, &ldquo;watchdog groups&rdquo; with nothing but the best interests of the United States at heart.<\/p>\n<p>One is the supposedly nonpartisan group American Oversight. The <a href=\"https:\/\/americanoversight.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">group&rsquo;s own website<\/a> declares that it was founded in 2017 &ldquo;in response to the unprecedented challenges that the Trump administration posed to our nation&rsquo;s democratic ideals and institutions.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Its <a href=\"https:\/\/americanoversight.org\/our-leadership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leadership<\/a> is chockablock with the kind of apparatchiks who get interviewed on NPR under benign-sounding titles whenever there&rsquo;s a controversy to enflame:<\/p>\n<p>The group&rsquo;s executive director is Chioma Chukwu, an adviser to the late Democratic Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hillary-clinton-uses-elijah-cummings-funeral-attack-trump-comparing-corrupt-leadership-king-ahab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elijah Cummings<\/a>; its vice president of litigation is Peter Kenny, who &ldquo;helped lead high-profile investigations into government corruption and national security failures during the first Trump administration;&rdquo; and its communications director Karl Frisch, whose resume includes work for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/took-9-people-media-matters-write-trump-tariff-hit-piece-aged-like-milk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">almost laughably leftist<\/a> website Media Matters.<\/p>\n<p>(That&rsquo;s all from the group&rsquo;s own website. Imagine what&rsquo;s <em>not<\/em> on the website.)<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, according to the AP, Chukwa vowed her group &ldquo;will continue using every tool available to force this information into the open and to defend the public&rsquo;s right to the truth through the release of this report.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Conservative Americans know full well how much &ldquo;truth&rdquo; could be expected from a report authored by Smith and his team of Trump witch hunters.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s a good bet lefties like &ldquo;American Oversight&rdquo; &mdash; seriously, could there be a more authoritarian name than that? &mdash; know how much truth is in it, too.<\/p>\n<p>But they also know how much Democrats can use the ammunition in a report like that against Trump and his administration, with the avid assistance of the establishment media. It&rsquo;s a prosecution that&rsquo;s tried in the court of the establishment media, in which the defendant is always guilty &mdash; if the defendant&rsquo;s name is Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Leftists played the same game with the &ldquo;Russia collusion&rdquo; hoax, a smear that bedevilled Trump&rsquo;s first administration until the Democrats&rsquo; own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-debate-performance-renews-spotlight-on-hur-tapes-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Biden debate performance renews spotlight on Hur tapes - Washington Examiner\">special counsel&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s report admitted there <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nbc-host-asks-mueller-said-no-collusion-lawyer-pulls-second-page\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was no there there<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They played the same game with Nancy Pelosi&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dem-led-jan-6-committee-made-suspicious-move-files-days-gop-took-majority-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">handpicked committee<\/a> to &ldquo;investigate&rdquo; the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol incursion.<\/p>\n<p>And there&rsquo;s no doubt &mdash; no doubt whatsoever &mdash; that they&rsquo;d planned to play the same game with Smith&rsquo;s report, even though it was from a special prosecutor who never should have been appointed in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>Cannon delivered a blow for the rule of law when she tossed Smith&rsquo;s prosecution 18 months ago. She delivered one again a month ago when she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/federal-judge-temporarily-blocks-jack-smiths-last-ditch-attempt-damage-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ordered a temporary seal<\/a> on Smith&rsquo;s report about the classified documents case.<\/p>\n<p>And she delivered a hammer on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats might not like it.
