The voice sounded reminiscent of Trump, though an impersonation could be possible, and the article notes Trump historically used the Barron name to distance himself from public statements. It recalls that Trump had admitted using the alias \u201con occasion\u201d in the past. Separately, the Supreme Court ruled that the tariffs were unlawfully implemented, and Trump called the ruling deeply disappointing and criticized some justices. And you have Chuck Schumer, who can&rsquo;t cook a cheeseburger,&rdquo; he added. &ldquo;Of course, these are people happy, but true Americans will not be happy. And you have the woman earlier &mdash; I assume she&rsquo;s a woman, she&rsquo;s a Democrat &mdash; but she&rsquo;s &hellip; devastated by this.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>CSPAN host Greta Brawner then cut him off and gave airtime to the next caller. Brawner noted Barron was a Republican from Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>When speaking with journalists during the 1980s and 1990s, Trump used the fake name to distance himself from public statements. Extensive reporting shows he used the name in the past, but Trump denied posing as a spokesperson in a 1991 phone call. In 1990, the businessman admitted in court that he had used the name &ldquo;on occasion.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In a landmark decision on Friday, the Supreme Court <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/4409863\/supreme-court-strikes-down-trumps-sweeping-liberation-day-tariffs\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/4409863\/supreme-court-strikes-down-trumps-sweeping-liberation-day-tariffs\/\">ruled<\/a> that Trump&rsquo;s &ldquo;Liberation Day&rdquo; tariffs were unlawfully implemented under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The president first used the national emergency law last year to justify imposing tariffs on foreign nations.<\/p>\n<p>Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4465406\/trump-supreme-court-tariffs-decision\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4465406\/trump-supreme-court-tariffs-decision\/\">said<\/a> the ruling was &ldquo;deeply disappointing&rdquo; and that he was &ldquo;ashamed of certain members of the court &hellip; for not having the courage to do what&rsquo;s right for our country.&rdquo; He has frequently argued that his tariffs are meant to strengthen national security.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4463463\/promises-trump-2025-joint-session-congress\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4463463\/promises-trump-2025-joint-session-congress\/\">PROMISES TRUMP HAS KEPT, OR NOT KEPT, FROM HIS 2025 JOINT SESSION OF CONGRESS SPEECH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Neglecting the ruling, Trump announced he is implementing a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/economy\/4466584\/trump-worldwide-tariff-15-percent-supreme-court\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/economy\/4466584\/trump-worldwide-tariff-15-percent-supreme-court\/\">15% global tariff<\/a> by invoking Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/economy\/4465560\/trump-new-global-tariffs-congress-supreme-court-ruling\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/economy\/4465560\/trump-new-global-tariffs-congress-supreme-court-ruling\/\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >initial worldwide tariff rate<\/a><\/a> was 10%. By <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/4455101\/house-votes-repeal-trump-canada-tariffs\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/4455101\/house-votes-repeal-trump-canada-tariffs\/\">voting on Trump&rsquo;s decision<\/a> to tax imported Canadian goods earlier this month, some Republicans joined almost all Democrats in signaling their opposition to the administration&rsquo;s broad use of tariffs.
