The \u201cFreedom and Slavery in the Making of a New Nation\u201d exhibit was removed in January after President Donald Trump\u2019s March 2025 executive order, \u201cRestoring Truth and Sanity to American History.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia and Independence National Historical Park had sued, arguing the federal government lacked the authority to remove the exhibit given prior agreements. U.S. district Judge Cynthia Rufe ruled that the removal denied the city and the park the opportunity to tell an honest history, invoking orwell\u2019s 1984 to criticize efforts to erase historical truth. She noted the government cannot unilaterally alter or control exhibits at the site without consultation. Trump\u2019s order aimed to remove markers or displays deemed a \u201cfalse reconstruction\u201d or partisan, but the ruling suggests the federal government exceeded its authority. Its objective was to remove any historical markers or displays that displayed a &ldquo;false reconstruction of American history&rdquo; or promoted &ldquo;partisan ideology&rdquo; which &ldquo;inappropriately disparages Americans past or living.&rdquo; He mentioned ideologically motivated historical revisionism that has tainted the nation&rsquo;s history.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4433031\/national-park-service-removes-slavery-exhibit-in-philadelphia\/\"><strong>NATIONAL PARK SERVICE REMOVES SLAVERY EXHIBIT IN PHILADELPHIA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This revisionist movement seeks to undermine the remarkable achievements of the United States by casting its founding principles and historical milestones in a negative light,&rdquo; read Trump&rsquo;s directive.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Under this historical revision, our Nation&rsquo;s unparalleled legacy of advancing liberty, individual rights, and human happiness is reconstructed as inherently racist, sexist, oppressive, or otherwise irredeemably flawed,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4433031\/national-park-service-removes-slavery-exhibit-in-philadelphia\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">read<\/a> the executive order. &ldquo;Rather than fostering unity and a deeper understanding of our shared past, the widespread effort to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/army-estimates-10-million-price-tag-for-restoring-confederate-statue\/\" title=\"Army estimates  million price tag for restoring Confederate statue\">rewrite history deepens societal divides<\/a> and fosters a sense of national shame, disregarding the progress America has made and the ideals that continue to inspire millions around the globe.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration did not comment on Rufe&rsquo;s ruling on Monday.
