It notes that Pam Bondi’s appearances before the House Judiciary Committee were aggressive and that The Daily Beast reported on her “burn book” notes, which critics say mirrored a prepared, partisan attack line. The piece describes tense exchanges during the hearings, including confrontations with Pramila Jayapal and a notable clash with White house-linked figures, framing these moments as stunts designed to generate media spectacle rather than substantive inquiry.

It highlights social-media commentary and coverage from outlets like kurt Bardella and The Hill, suggesting that the discussions were more about theatrics and narrative-building than about uncovering new facts. The author argues that both sides have used Epstein as a cudgel, treating the hearings as opportunities for posturing while seemingly ignoring the victims and the underlying issues. The piece also critiques journalists and commentators who amplified the stunts, labeling some coverage as little more than dramatic noise.

the article characterizes the proceedings as “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing,” implying that, after years of attention, the hearings have failed to deliver a serious, accountable examination of Epstein’s activities or the broader questions surrounding the affair.

There’s a double standard in congressional hearings, particularly when it’s a Republican White House, and even more so when that Republican president is Donald Trump: The party that’s not in the Oval Office can act as crudely and reprehensibly as possible, and the administration is supposed to pretend that this is a deadly serious event and not wholesale grandstanding.

The Trump White House has stopped playing along. The Trump administration isn’t playing along anymore. Although Pam Bondi’s appearances this week drew disapproval from some, her stance is correct. The coverage around the Jeffrey Epstein documents made it look like Democrats were once again pretending to care about the matter—a concern they ignored when Joe Biden was president—and certain Democrat-friendly outlets seemed to relish the opportunity. Kurt Bardella, previously with the Lincoln Project and now with NewsNation, floated questions Democrats might pose to Bondi at the House Judiciary Committee hearing, highlighting the spectacle.

What followed was largely a stunt-filled exchange rather than a serious inquiry. Bondi declined a request from Rep. Pramila Jayapal to address Epstein’s victims in the audience, which sparked a shouting match. The moment was amplified by clips from The Hill and Fox News, underscoring how this was less about substance and more about theatrics. Observers noted that Bondi had a “burn book” of notes and talking points, which, along with the redaction and prep material seen in images, fed the narrative of a prepared performance rather than a genuine inquiry. The Daily Beast described how Bondi’s briefing materials aimed at certain targets were criticized as part of the broader theatrics of the hearing, and some commentators emphasized that the seriousness of addressing Epstein was being undercut by the farcical nature of the proceedings. Bondi’s behavior was framed as adopting the strategy the Trump administration should emulate: treat these hearings as farces, not grave investigations.

The scene wasn’t limited to Bondi. There was a similar moment when Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, in a tense exchange with Rep. Stephen Lynch, was pressured to speak up, only for the back-and-forth to resemble a shouting match more than a productive inquiry. The piece argues that, after years of investigation into Epstein, the current push is more about political theater than uncovering the truth or helping victims. The author contends that neither side genuinely cares about the victims; instead, they want to dominate the moment and bloviate. If one side plays unseriously, the other can respond in kind

[33651
45543,3933,3679,73776,13854
post-2569798","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-the-western-journal","tag-bondi","tag-dems","tag-hearing","tag-high-res","tag-notes
["GET
