Their media allies are looking for a repeat this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Trump did a cost\/benefit analysis and determined that imposing tariffs strategically can bring manufacturing back to the United States, which means more American jobs, and such has definitely been the case in the auto and other industries. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/numbers-trumps-first-200-days-unlike-americas-history-10-biggest-wins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mercedes-Benz<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-trump-hauls-massive-1-trillion-deals-south-korea-visit-strengthens-military-alliance-approves-new-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hyundai<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/autos-transportation\/honda-produce-next-civic-indiana-not-mexico-due-us-tariffs-sources-say-2025-03-03\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Honda<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellantis.com\/en\/news\/press-releases\/2025\/october\/stellantis-to-invest-13-billion-to-grow-in-the-united-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stellantis<\/a> were just some of the manufacturers that announced production in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, U.S. steel manufacturing <a href=\"https:\/\/asia.nikkei.com\/business\/materials\/us-steel-production-exceeds-japan-s-for-first-time-in-26-years\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exceeded<\/a> Japan&rsquo;s for the first time in 26 years.<\/p>\n<p>ABC is also doing some sleight of hand when it reports that Trump was saying tariffs are bringing in trillions of dollars in revenue to the treasury. He means that by imposing the tariffs, it&rsquo;s causing trillions of investments in new manufacturing and the purchase of American goods to flow into the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Commerce Department said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.gov\/news\/press-releases\/2026\/01\/first-year-accomplishments-under-secretary-howard-w-lutnick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> last month that there have been 20 landmark trade deals totaling over $9.94 trillion in U.S. investment commitments. &ldquo;President Trump and Secretary Lutnick have focused on rebalancing trade and securing the American industrial base through tariff protection and landmark investment agreements,&rdquo; the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>During a December cabinet meeting, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/2026-shaping-best-economy-since-reagan-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pointed out<\/a> that capital expenditures rose 15 percent in 2025, meaning companies are spending to expand their ability to make more products. &ldquo;In history, when CapEx is up, jobs will follow,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted some of the provisions in the Big Beautiful Bill that are aimed right at middle-class Americans, like no tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security, and tax deductibility of car loan payments for U.S.-made vehicles.
