Thompson is the same man who chaired the Jan. 6 Committee, which was also caught fabricating &ldquo;evidence.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While Thompson was chiding Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for allegedly creating a &ldquo;demonstrably false story&rdquo; about Pretti&rsquo;s death, an apparent staffer held up an AI-generated image of Pretti with Border Patrol agents standing over him, and one of the agents is headless.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1643795576\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"whAhem1gdKBZnf4dqKYQYzljQxrO2WcNzEXTuE5n0WsmpMq9aSJ1ik4PprJxFSTkbAMvUVRsDb7\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#128680; In a Homeland Security Committee hearing with ICE Director Todd Lyons, Rep. Dick Durbin used that same image during a speech on the Senate floor in January. Durbin&rsquo;s post was flagged with an X <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenatorDurbin\/status\/2016598095090286789?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">community note<\/a> that said the photo Durbin showed &ldquo;has been digitally altered from the original screen capture of the incident that killed Alex Pretti. The kneeling officer on the right has no head, and other seemingly clear but fictional details are created from the original blurry image.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Pretti was fatally shot during an interaction with Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis. Video footage appeared to show Pretti interfering with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/150-missing-children-found-in-tennessee-as-part-of-operation-volunteer-strong\/\" title=\"150 Missing Children Found In Tennessee As Part Of \u2018Operation Volunteer Strong\u2019\">law enforcement operation<\/a>, but an investigation is ongoing. <\/p>\n<p>Notably, Thompson served as chairman of the Jan. 6 Committee, which <em>also<\/em> fabricated records.<\/p>\n<p>The committee admitted that it doctored text messages purportedly between former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/15\/breaking-january-6-committee-admits-it-doctored-text-message-between-meadows-and-jordan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Federalist<\/a>, &ldquo;Jordan forwarded to Meadows a three-paragraph legal summary from attorney Joseph Schmitz, summarizing a four-page legal memorandum Schmitz had written regarding congressional certification of the 2020 presidential electoral vote count.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>But a Democrat spokesman for the Jan. 6 Committee confessed in an email to The Federalist that they <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/15\/during-january-6-hearing-schiff-doctored-text-messages-between-mark-meadows-and-rep-jim-jordan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">doctored those messages<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Select Committee on Monday created and provided Representative Schiff a graphic to use during the business meeting quoting from a text message from &lsquo;a lawmaker&rsquo; to Mr. Meadows,&rdquo; the spokesman wrote. &ldquo;The graphic read, &lsquo;On January 6, 2021, Vice President Mike Pence, as President of the Senate, should call out all electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all.&rsquo;&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In the graphic, the period at the end of that sentence was added inadvertently,&rdquo; the spokesman admitted. &ldquo;The Select Committee is responsible for and regrets the error.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Jan. 6 Committee Chairwoman Liz Cheney also <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/16\/j6-committee-fabricates-more-evidence-says-trump-waited-187-minutes-to-call-for-peace-it-was-actually-25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fabricated evidence<\/a>, claiming President Donald Trump waited 187 minutes to urge protesters to be &ldquo;peaceful&rdquo; following the breach of the Capitol on Jan. 6. It turns out, Trump actually made the first call for peaceful protests 25 minutes after the first breach.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson&rsquo;s use of an AI-generated photo of a headless Border Patrol agent is part of Democrats&rsquo; frequent use of lies to smear and malign deportation efforts. Just last month Democrats, along with the propaganda press, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/mother-5-year-old-taken-ice-immigration-agents-use-son-bait-rcna256729\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ran the hoax<\/a> that five-year-old Liam Ramos was kidnapped by ICE and used as &ldquo;bait&rdquo; to lure his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/forget-groypers-instagram-moms-will-be-the-death-of-america\/\" title=\"Forget Groypers. Instagram Moms Will Be The Death Of America\">illegal alien father<\/a> into custody. As <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/01\/23\/heres-how-the-media-are-lying-right-now-ice-and-5-year-old-boy-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">it turned out,<\/a> the child was abandoned by his illegal alien father when he fled law enforcement, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Ramos&rsquo; mother reportedly refused to let her son into the house, leaving the boy instead with federal agents. Eventually, the father agreed to take custody of his child, and, as a result, the child was brought with his father to a detainment facility. <\/p>\n<p>But during Tuesday&rsquo;s hearing, Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Julio_Rosas11\/status\/2021256262621487602?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rep. Eric Swalwell<\/a> asked acting ICE Director Todd Lyons if he would resign from ICE, showing a photo of Ramos behind him.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No, sir, I won&rsquo;t,&rdquo; Lyons said. &ldquo;Because, sir, that child that you&rsquo;re showing right there &mdash; the men and women of ICE took care of him when his father abandoned him and ran from law enforcement.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Brianna Lyman is an elections correspondent at The Federalist.
