Schiff argues Swalwell would vigorously defend values, rights, and freedoms, citing their previous work together investigating Donald Trump and Swalwell’s role in impeaching Trump after January 6.The endorsement is framed as a strategic move to unite Democrats behind Swalwell to avoid a jungle primary in which a split Democratic vote could let top Republicans advance.

The article also lays out several cautions and criticisms. It notes that Swalwell and Schiff were removed from the House Intelligence Committee in 2023 amid disputes over the Russia collusion narrative and alleges,via a declassified FBI document and other reporting,that they may have leaked classified facts. It references Swalwell’s ties to a Chinese spy reported by Axios in 2020 and discusses ongoing questions about both men’s residency in California versus the District of Columbia. The piece cites polls and social-media commentary suggesting Swalwell could be ahead of democrat Katie Porter in some scenarios, but it also quotes critics who portray Swalwell as unserious and point to Porter’s local residency as a strength.

the author suggests it’s unclear whether Schiff’s endorsement will move the needle. While consolidating around Swalwell could help Democrats,the piece highlights the potential downsides of backing a candidate with notable controversy,arguing Porter has legitimate local ties and that California voters face more consequential governance issues beyond intra-Democratic politics.

    Read more…

When California Sen. The third was Rep. It’s not a good look when one Russiagate hoaxer who fell upwards politically is endorsing another to do the same thing, after all.

And this time it involves the serious business of fixing the nation’s most populous — and broken — state.

       * Name

       *

      * Message

* All fields are required.

Success!

       function firefly_sc() { if( typeof window.captchaPublicKey==typeof undefined ){ console.error('window.captchaPublicKey is not defined'); } grecaptcha.execute( window.captchaPublicKey, { action: 'submit_correction' } ).then( function( token ) { var opts={ action: 'firefly_sc_submit', name: document.querySelector( '.entry-submit-correction [name="name"]' ).value, : document.querySelector( '.entry-submit-correction [name=""]' ).value, message: document.querySelector( '.entry-submit-correction [name="message"]' ).value, post_id: firefly_post_id, cap_token: token } var inputs=[ 'name', '', 'message' ]; for( var i=0; i <inputs.length; i++ ) if( ! Adam Schiff promises “exciting news,” it’s usually not exciting, and this time his news centers on endorsing Rep. Eric Swalwell to succeed term-limited Governor Gavin Newsom. Schiff says Swalwell would stand up to anyone, including the president, to defend American values and credits Swalwell with helping investigate Trump and participating in the impeachment after January 6, asserting Swalwell is now ready to deliver for California.

The article suggests there are two possible readings of Schiff’s endorsement: Democrats may be banding together behind Swalwell to avoid a split primary that could let top Republicans through to the general election, or Schiff’s backing could backfire given Swalwell’s own controversies. It notes polling that, in some scenarios, Republican candidates hold early leads, with a crowded field including Katie Porter, Xavier Becerra, Tom Steyer, and others, and mentions a Washington Examiner poll showing Swalwell briefly ahead of Porter.

It also highlights Swalwell’s and Schiff’s “character red flags,” such as Swalwell’s removal from the House Intelligence Committee in 2023 after partisan fighting over Russia allegations, and lingering questions about Swalwell’s ties to a Chinese contact. The piece cites a declassified FBI document and other online commentary raising concerns about Swalwell’s credibility and residency questions.

The article includes social-media reactions from conservatives mocking Swalwell and Schiff and argues these controversies complicate Swalwell’s bid and raise questions about Schiff’s influence in California politics. It contends that governing California demands seriousness, and while Swalwell’s endorsement might shift some support, it could also reinforce perceptions that Schiff is pushing a candidate with serious credibility issues. Overall, it suggests the endorsement may or may not move voters, but it underscores the tension between partisan messaging and the state’s need for effective leadership

[33651
73479,73481,41685,73480,73482
post-2568296","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-the-western-journal","tag-californiagovernorrace","tag-ericswalwell","tag-politicalcontroversy","tag-schiffendorsement","tag-socialmediabacklash
["GET
