Cook Political Report rates Crank and Zinke as \u201clikely Republican,\u201d while Finstad, McGuire, and Mace are viewed as \u201csolid republican.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Democrats\u2019 chances to flip these seats are slim but not impractical; Crank&rsquo;s and Zinke&rsquo;s seats are rated as &ldquo;likely Republican&rdquo; by the nonpartisan <em><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/ratings\/house-race-ratings\">Cook Political Report<\/a><\/em>, while Finstad&rsquo;s, McGuire&rsquo;s, and Mace&rsquo;s seats are considered &ldquo;solid Republican.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>But the addition of the five districts to the DCCC&rsquo;s target list shows that Democrats are bullish on flipping the House majority this fall. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) only has a one-seat majority after Rep. Christian Menefee (D-TX) <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4442988\/house-gop-margin-christian-menefee-sworn-in\/\">won a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/red-wave-12-republican-nationwide-wins-in-tuesdays-election\/\" title=\"Red Wave: 12 ... Nationwide ...s in Tuesday\u2019s Election\">special election runoff<\/a><\/a> and was sworn in last week to replace the late Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner.<\/p>\n<p>The House majority typically flips to the party out of the White House in a midterm cycle, and Democrats only need a net gain of three seats to take back the majority. The <em>Cook Political Report<\/em> has Democrats projected to win <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3895131\/democrats-should-temper-expectations-2026-blue-wave\/\">as many as 14 seats<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4421260\/house-democrats-hopes-raised-nonpartisan-index-shifts-18-seats\/\">shifting 18 competitive seats<\/a> toward Democrats earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4448273\/leader-jeffries-challenges-house-speaker\/\"><strong>LEADER JEFFRIES COULD BE &lsquo;SPEAKER JEFFRIES&rsquo; SOON. WHAT CHALLENGES COULD HE FACE?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A majority of wins in the last four midterm elections have come from districts that a president carried or lost by less than 5 points. There are only four Republican incumbents who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-need-to-temper-expectations-of-a-2026-blue-wave-data-show\/\" title=\"Dems need to temper expectations of a 2026 blue wave, data show\">represent seats won<\/a> by former Vice President&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kamala-harris\/\">Kamala Harris<\/a>, and only 10 seats where President Donald Trump won by 5 points or less in the&nbsp;2024 election.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The five new DCCC targets all won reelection in 2024 handily.
