Additional talks are expected to take place in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>The renewed negotiations center on Iran&rsquo;s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nuclear-weapons\/\">nuclear weapons<\/a> program, which the U.S. targeted in a bombing campaign last June. Tensions between the two nations have grown ever since then.<\/p>\n<p>Araghchi said there is a &ldquo;very, very deep distrust&rdquo; amid the nuclear talks because the U.S. bombed Iranian nuclear facilities during negotiations last summer.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In my view, this is not easy. This distrust, of course, was created by the United States,&rdquo; he added. &ldquo;In the previous round of negotiations, it was not us who carried out a military attack in the middle of negotiations. In fact, the first bomb that was fired at us was fired at the negotiating table.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. attack followed the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/israel\/\">Israeli<\/a> military&rsquo;s strikes on Iranian targets, which were meant to prevent the Islamic regime from further <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cia-dir-nominee-u-s-must-prevent-iran-from-developing-nuclear-weapons\/\" title=\"CIA Dir. Nominee: U.S. must prevent ... from developing nuclear weapons\">developing nuclear weapons<\/a>. Iran had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-wont-lift-iran-sanctions-until-they-stop-uranium-enrichment-still-wants-to-rejoin-deal\/\" title=\"Biden won\u2019t lift ... sanctions until they stop uranium enrichment, still wants to rejoin ...\">enriching uranium<\/a> up to 60% purity, short of the 90% threshold that is required for nuclear weapons, before the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>While its nuclear capabilities had been set back, Iran stated during the latest negotiations that it does not intend to stop enriching uranium as the U.S. military surrounds the nation.<\/p>\n<p>The USS <em>Abraham Lincoln<\/em> is one of many U.S. Navy ships that <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/4433614\/abraham-lincoln-carrier-strike-group-middle-east-possible-iran-attack\/\">recently arrived<\/a> in the Arabian Sea in a show of force against Iran. Trump&rsquo;s Middle East special envoy <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/steve-witkoff\/\">Steve Witkoff<\/a> and son-in-law <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jared-kushner\/\">Jared Kushner<\/a> both <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/world\/4450238\/witkoff-kushner-us-aircraft-carrier-iran-coast\/\">boarded the aircraft carrier<\/a> on Saturday after holding nuclear talks with Iranian officials.<\/p>\n<p>Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4449788\/trump-talks-iran-very-good-no-nuclear-weapons-deal\/\">hopes to make<\/a> a nuclear deal with Iran soon. Otherwise, he may authorize military action.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have very good talks going with Iran,&rdquo; the president said on Friday aboard Air Force One before traveling to his Mar-a-Lago resort for the weekend. &ldquo;The results today with Iran &hellip; we&rsquo;re gonna meet again early next week. And they want to make a deal, as they should want to make a deal.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>As his administration holds talks with Iran, Trump is set to meet with Israeli Prime Minister <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/benjamin-netanyahu\/\">Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> at the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/white-house\/\">White House<\/a> on Wednesday to discuss the future of Iran&rsquo;s nuclear program.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/world\/4450258\/netanyahu-rushes-to-washington-trump-meeting-iran\/\">NETANYAHU RUSHES TO WASHINGTON FOR MEETING WITH TRUMP ON IRAN<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Prime Minister believes any negotiations must include limitations on ballistic missiles and a halting of the support for the Iranian axis,&rdquo; Netanyahu&rsquo;s office <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/IsraeliPM\/status\/2020193560289759311\">said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was moved up a week earlier than expected. Netanyahu was initially scheduled to meet Trump at the White House on Feb. 18, one day before the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace is set to be held.
