<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yZ0nr8JZZN\">pic.twitter.com\/yZ0nr8JZZN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CollinRugg\/status\/2019820024199045384?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 6, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>You can see a bunch of obvious themes in this mega-cringe showdown, starting with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.compactmag.com\/article\/the-great-feminization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">feminization thesis<\/a> advanced by Helen Andrews and the problem of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/article\/the-cluster-b-society\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cluster B politics<\/a> that Christopher Rufo has described. But the moment couldn&rsquo;t be any more thoroughly on the nose, because note what the controversy is: A private company took down an anti-ICE sign. The meltdown is about the <em>display<\/em> of a political slogan.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2095894087\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>What&rsquo;s happening here is the absolute dead center of a problem the dissident writer V&aacute;clav Havel discussed in his famous long essay on &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nonviolent-conflict.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/1979\/01\/the-power-of-the-powerless.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Power of the Powerless<\/a>.&rdquo; Havel argued that an insistence on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/larry-johnson-the-cia-has-become-the-kgb\/\" title=\"Larry Johnson: The CIA Has Become the KGB\">speaking truth<\/a> is political dynamite against a system or regime that demands compliance.<\/p>\n<p>In the third section of that essay &mdash; it starts on page 5, if you click on the link &mdash; he discusses a greengrocer who hangs a sign in the window of his shop. Havel writes that the grocer &ldquo;does not put the slogan in his window from any personal desire to acquaint the public with the ideal it expresses.&rdquo; What he means by hanging up the sign, Havel says, is <em>please leave me alone<\/em>. He puts the sign in the window &ldquo;because everyone does it, and because that is the way it has to be. &hellip; He does it because these things must be done if one is to get along in life. It is one of the thousands of details that guarantee him a relatively tranquil life &lsquo;in harmony with society,&rsquo; as they say.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>But all of that please-leave-me-alone compliance, Havel says, is a trick. It leads us to the accident of seeing <em>agreement<\/em> everywhere. Everyone has that sign, so everyone must believe what it says. The act of going along to get along is a legitimizing act, a political surrender that hides disagreement. It&rsquo;s a lie, and it has a cost.<\/p>\n<p>This is what the yoga mat mob is arguing for: compliance. They&rsquo;re demanding that everyone seem to agree with them. And that&rsquo;s exactly how we end up with fake politics, and the passionate &ldquo;support&rdquo; of the 20 percent position in an 80\/20 dispute.<\/p>\n<p>In a yoga studio in Minneapolis, a bunch of arrogant fools are demanding that we pretend to agree with them.
