Arlington County police say he was extradited from Maryland and arrested January 22 following a months-long investigation. Ring doorbell footage captured demarco outside Vought\u2019s residence on august 10, and investigators found digital evidence suggesting he had planned the attack, including directions to the home, knowledge of firearms owned by a relative, and guidance on avoiding detection. He allegedly wrote a manifesto detailing the plan to kill Vought and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >posted online discussions soliciting<\/a> others to murder the victim; he later appeared at the home days after those posts. Federal agents noted Demarco said Trump\u2019s 2024 election victory was the lowest point of his life and described the trump era as leading to a fascist takeover. Arlington County police arrested the suspect on Jan. 22 after he was extradited <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">from&nbsp;Maryland to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/virginia\/\">Virginia<\/a>,<\/span> as he is reportedly accused of plotting to murder Vought.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are grateful for the work of law enforcement in keeping Director Vought and his family safe,&rdquo; an OMB spokesperson told NBC News.<\/p>\n<p>Demarco was seen in Ring doorbell footage outside the front door of Vought&rsquo;s home on Aug. 10. Police were dispatched to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/white-house\/\">White House<\/a> official&rsquo;s address that afternoon after a witness reported a suspicious person.<\/p>\n<p>He allegedly wrote a manifesto detailing his plan to kill Vought, which included disposing of the body. He wore gloves, sunglasses, a surgical mask, and a backpack at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Arlington County police said officers &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/man-seen-at-voughts-home-charged-with-attempted-murder\/\" title=\"Man seen at Vought...s ... with attempted murder\">recovered digital evidence<\/a> that the suspect had obtained directions to the victim&rsquo;s residence, had information detailing locations of firearms possessed by a relative, and had a guide detailing tips to prevent criminal detection.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The authorities also said Demarco posted about Vought and engaged in &ldquo;online discussions appearing to solicit others to murder the victim.&rdquo; He then showed up at the intended victim&rsquo;s home within days of the messages.<\/p>\n<p>Months later, police obtained the criminal warrants to arrest the suspect at his residence.<\/p>\n<p>Demarco told federal agents that President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump&rsquo;s<\/a> victory in the 2024 presidential election was the &ldquo;lowest point in his life&rdquo; and that the Trump administration would lead to a &ldquo;fascist takeover,&rdquo; according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/4448031\/fbi-reward-information-nancy-guthrie-recovery\/\">FBI ANNOUNCES $50,000 REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO NANCY GUTHRIE&rsquo;S RECOVERY: &lsquo;WE&rsquo;RE STILL LOOKING&rsquo;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vought was a key author of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/static.heritage.org\/project2025\/2025_MandateForLeadership_FULL.pdf\">Project 2025<\/a>, a policy blueprint developed by the Heritage Foundation that outlined conservative policies in the event that Trump won the election.
