Karp will remain at the firm, while Scott Barshay was named chairman of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-not-lotteries-accused-of-systemic-racism\/\" title=\"Why Not: Lotteries Accused of Systemic Racism\">corporate department<\/a> and will take over as chairman promptly. The DOJ documents include emails in which Karp thanked Epstein for hosting a dinner with Woody allen and even asked Epstein to help find a role for his son in a Woody Allen film, with Epstein replying. Another DOJ note indicates Karp discussed epstein\u2019s decades-old plea deal in 2016\u20132019, months before Epstein\u2019s death, a development Epstein\u2019s lawyers later used to challenge a Florida trafficking case. The disclosures also highlight Epstein\u2019s broad network, including ties to Harvard leadership, Hollywood, politicians, and figures such as Donald Trump and Bill Clinton. Emails reported by the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/e12add1a-56ab-41b9-8288-f8df81ab57f1?accessToken=zwAGSc313cS4kdPhKt0aVqtBudOCiPjfgatX8Q.MEQCIEzrTLruK8va0mIjzvsTXpmqVFNCKFph8EmTYSrBFcThAiB49IxOa_1nXDs6raB5xvKB5YPMjfasuYOYybh8ni4Wqw&amp;sharetype=gift&amp;token=98c4bdb0-eac7-4b5e-bb82-3eac81151745\"><em>Financial Times<\/em><\/a>  and <em><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/business-and-practice\/karp-advised-epstein-on-fight-over-plea-deal-months-before-death\">Bloomberg Law <\/a><\/em>detail some of those communications. He will remain at the firm, though Scott Barshay, the previous chairman of the Paul Weiss corporate department, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >appointed chairman effective immediately<\/a>. The law firm is the same one targeted by the Trump administration last year after being accused of targeting conservatives and pursuing &ldquo;unlawful&rdquo; diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Trump cut federal ties with the firm before Karp <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3354891\/trump-order-paul-weiss-deal-law-firm\/\">cut<\/a> a deal with the White House, restoring the relationship.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One email Karp <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/epstein\/files\/DataSet%2011\/EFTA02493083.pdf\">sent to Epstein<\/a> in July 2015 thanked him for being &ldquo;an extraordinary host.&rdquo; The email referenced a dinner with Woody Allen and Karp.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Jeffrey, I can&rsquo;t thank you enough for including me in an evening I&rsquo;ll never forget. It was truly &lsquo;once in a lifetime&rsquo; in every way, though I hope to be invited again. You are an extraordinary host &mdash; and your home . . .!!!&rdquo; Karp wrote the day after the scheduled dinner. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There are many many nights of unique talents. you will be invited often,&rdquo; Epstein replied.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another email from the DOJ indicated Karp asked Epstein in 2016 if he could find a role for his son in a Woody Allen film. Karp told Epstein that his son &ldquo;doesn&rsquo;t need to be paid and he&rsquo;s a really good, talented kid.&rdquo; &ldquo;I will ask, of course,&rdquo; Epstein replied. &ldquo;Can you tell me what role he would like to fill, I know little about the movies.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In March 2019, Karp appeared to help Epstein review a decades-old plea deal on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ghislaine-maxwell-now-accusing-prison-guard-of-abuse\/\" title=\"Ghislaine Maxwell Now Accusing Prison Guard Of Abuse\">sex trafficking charges<\/a>, months before the financier died in jail.
