The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. So what is he proposing?<\/p>\n<p>Nationalizing voting means transferring control over elections from state or local governments to the federal government to make the voting process more uniform across the country. Each state decides how its elections are run, ranging from mail-in ballots to voter identification.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is aggressively pushing for <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/congress\/\">Congress<\/a> to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, otherwise known as the SAVE Act, to require proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration.<\/p>\n<p>A number of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house-republicans\/\">House Republicans<\/a> tried attaching the SAVE Act to the funding deal that would end the partial <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/government-shutdown\/\">government shutdown<\/a>. Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4443443\/trump-tries-quell-gop-rebellion-funding-deal-save-act-no-changes\/\">clarified<\/a> there would be &ldquo;NO CHANGES&rdquo; to the funding package, promising a legislative pathway for Republicans to pass the bill.<\/p>\n<p>After speaking with the White House, Rep. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/anna-paulina-luna\/\">Anna Paulina Luna<\/a> (R-FL) and other House Republicans <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/4443745\/gop-rebels-yield-voter-id-push-government-funding\/\">indicated<\/a> they would vote to approve the funding deal without the SAVE Act. The vote to advance a five-bill appropriations package and a 10-day continuing resolution to fund the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-homeland-security\/\">Department of Homeland Security<\/a>, among other bills, is set for Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>In a previous statement to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said Trump &ldquo;cares deeply about the safety and security of our election,&rdquo; and pointed to his support for Congress passing the SAVE Act and other reforms that would impose requirements on no-excuse mail-in voting, photo ID rules, and ballot harvesting practices.<\/p>\n<p>Other ways to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >nationalize voting include federal oversight<\/a> of election administration and security, as well as oversight of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-wants-a-filibuster-carve-out-but-only-for-democrats\/\" title=\"Biden Wants A Filibuster Carve-Out \u2014 But Only For Democrats\">national election infrastructure<\/a>, such as voting databases and system standards. It&rsquo;s unlikely this would mean federal officers physically running every polling location across the country.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to the&nbsp;<em>Washington Examiner<\/em>, the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican-national-committee\/\">Republican National Committee<\/a>&nbsp;reiterated the party&rsquo;s commitment to election integrity without directly addressing Trump&rsquo;s proposal to nationalize voting.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;President Trump has been clear: election integrity is non-negotiable,&rdquo; RNC spokeswoman Kiersten Pels said. &ldquo;The American people support commonsense safeguards like voter ID, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-plans-to-cut-100000-names-off-state-voter-rolls-in-major-list-maintenance-effort\/\" title=\"Georgia Plans To Cut 100,000 Names Off State ...r Rolls In \u2018Major List Maintenance Effort\u2019\">accurate voter rolls<\/a>, and only citizens voting in our elections. The RNC is fighting every day to protect every legal vote and restore confidence in our elections.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Since he lost the 2020 presidential election, Trump has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michigan-attorney-general-police-to-probe-people-who-made-election-fraud-claims\/\" title=\"Michigan Attorney General, Police to Probe People Who Made ... Claims\">made election fraud<\/a> a key talking point and a top priority after returning to office.<\/p>\n<p>The issue came to the forefront last week when the FBI <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4437558\/fbi-executes-search-warrant-at-fulton-county-election-facility\/\">raided an election facility<\/a> in Fulton County, Georgia, where Trump claims alleged voter fraud took place. The raid became even more controversial after lawmakers learned Director of National Intelligence <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/tulsi-gabbard\/\">Tulsi Gabbard<\/a> was present at the facility on the day of the operation, which many Democrats noted was unusual for such an operation.<\/p>\n<p>Trump<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4440129\/trump-tulsi-gabbard-georgia-fbi-raid-election\/\"> said<\/a> Gabbard was there to safeguard election integrity, even though her office doesn&rsquo;t directly oversee elections unless it involves foreign interference in some capacity.
