The offer proposed a four-hour voluntary, transcribed interview in New York City limited to Epstein-related questions, wiht both sides allowed their own transcriber, and options to drop Hillary\u2019s subpoena or to hold an in-person interview similar to Bill\u2019s if rejected. Comer called the terms unreasonable, arguing that a voluntary interview could permit witnesses to skip questions and that a time limit could let them \u201crun out the clock,\u201d noting the Clintons had already missed depositions and noncompliance with subpoenas. The Clintons had argued that the investigation has been hampered and said they are prepared to defend themselves, while indicating they provided limited data and criticized the government\u2019s handling of Epstein\u2019s case. Your clients&rsquo; desire for special treatment is both frustrating and an affront to the American people&rsquo;s desire for transparency.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>According to the Jan. 31 letter, the offer states the former president would sit for four hours for a voluntary, transcribed interview in New York City, limited to the scope of the Epstein investigation, where lawmakers from both parties and their staff could ask questions. The letter added that both the Clintons and the committee could have their own transcriber.<\/p>\n<p>The Clintons&rsquo; lawyers pushed for the committee to drop Hillary Clinton&rsquo;s subpoena, but said that if the committee refused, she could appear for an in-person interview in a format similar to her husband&rsquo;s.<\/p>\n<p>Comer rejected the terms of the offer, calling them &ldquo;unreasonable.&rdquo; He pointed out that in a voluntary, transcribed interview, the witness is allowed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/911-call-record-from-obama-chefs-death-had-something-missing-that-other-911-calls-had-report\/\" title=\"Report: 911 call record from Obama chef&#039;s death lacked crucial information present in other 911 calls.\">leave questions unanswered<\/a>, unlike a deposition, and that a time restraint allows the witness to &ldquo;run out the clock.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Clintons were set to appear before the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >oversight committee<\/a> last month, but they no-showed for their depositions.
