An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/venezuelan-gang-members-arrested-thousands-of-miles-from-border\/\" title=\"Venezuelan gang members apprehended far from b...\">immigration judge ordered<\/a> her removal in July 2019, and the Board of immigration Appeals dismissed her appeal in September 2022; officials say she did not depart and was served a fine notice in April 2025, with a final civil-penalty order entered June 25, 2025 after she didn\u2019t contest it. The large sum is calculated from roughly $998 per day in penalties assessed since the BIA decision\u2014part of a 2025 rule that removed a previous 30-day notice period and reinstated near-$1,000 daily fines for noncompliance. The articles note it\u2019s unclear where Veliz is originally from and that the matter was flagged by Politico. Charged with Killing Elderly Man, Injuring Three Others in Florida\">illegal alien living<\/a> in Chesterfield County, Virginia, for failing to leave the country pursuant to a final order of removal, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn01.dailycaller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/velizcomp012326.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">court documents<\/a>. The gigantic sum reflects the heavy-handed approach the White House has taken on <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >foreign nationals flouting immigration law<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>An immigration judge ordered the removal of Veliz in July 2019, according to court documents. The order was finalized after the Board of Immigration Appeals, the body responsible for reviewing immigration court decisions, dismissed her appeal in September 2022.<\/p>\n<p>However, Veliz did not abide by the court order, prompting federal officials to serve her a fine notice on April 29, 2025, according to the Justice Department. After failing to contest the penalty within 30 days of the notice, a final order imposing the fee was entered on June 25, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s not immediately clear from court documents where Veliz is originally from. The fee appears to be the largest amount under a new policy the Trump administration rolled out in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security published a rule in June eliminating the 30-day notice period before fines can be issued to illegal immigrants who fail to comply with removal orders, immediately ushering in penalties of nearly $1,000 per day on non<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gaetz-presses-mayorkas-for-info-on-illegal-immigrants-dui-after-officer-harmed\/\" title=\"Gaetz asks Mayorkas about DUI incident involving injured officer and illegal immigrant.\">-compliant illegal immigrants<\/a>. Such fines were originally implemented during the first Trump administration, but were later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/archive\/news\/2021\/04\/23\/dhs-announces-rescission-civil-penalties-failure-depart\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/archive\/news\/2021\/04\/23\/dhs-announces-rescission-civil-penalties-failure-depart\">revoked<\/a> by the Biden administration, which framed the penalties as &ldquo;unnecessary.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While doling out sticks to the illegal alien population, the Trump administration has also offered up carrots.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration in May began publicly enticing illegal aliens with a free flight and a $1,000 stipend if they choose to self-deport, an ostensible win-win for both parties, as the cost to arrest and forcibly repatriate an individual costs much more. The administration upped the ante in June by offering to forgive any fines imposed on them for failing to abide by their deportation order if they finally opt to leave.<\/p>\n<p>The efforts appear to have yielded fruit for the Trump administration.
