But before I begin I do want to talk about what happened in Georgia in Atlanta. It is tragic. Our country, the president and I and all of us, we grieve for the loss. Our prayers are extended to the families of those who\u2019ve been killed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt speaks to a larger issue which is the issue of violence in our country and what we must do to never tolerate it and to always speak out against it,\u201d Harris lectured. \u201cThe investigation is ongoing. What do you want?\u2019 And I wailed back, \u2018Fweedom.\u2019\u201d Harris repeated the story in her 2019 book, \u201cThe Truths We Hold: An American Journey,\u201d then repeated it again June of 2020, speaking with Jimmy Fallon on NBC\u2019s \u201cThe Tonight Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/kamala-harris-fweedom-stroller-story-plagiarism-mlk\">Fox News<\/a> reported that Harris was accused of \u201cappropriating the anecdote from civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.\u201d after it appeared again in an Elle magazine interview.<\/p>\n<p>King told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/alexhaley.com\/2020\/07\/26\/alex-haley-interviews-martin-luther-king-jr\/\">Playboy<\/a> in 1965. \u201cI will never forget a moment in Birmingham when a white policeman accosted a little Negro girl, seven or eight years old, who was walking in a demonstration with her mother. \u2018What do you want?\u2019 the policeman asked her gruffly, and the little girl looked at him straight in the eye and answered, \u2018Fee-dom.\u2019 She couldn\u2019t even pronounce it, but she knew. It was beautiful! Many times when I have been in sorely trying situations, the memory of that little one has come into my mind, and has buoyed me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the 2020 presidential campaign, Harris&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-kamala-harris-hammers-joe-biden-over-his-frank-camp\">linked<\/a> Joe Biden with racism during the second Democratic debate, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13\">\n<p><em>Growing up, my sister and I had to deal with the neighbor who told us her parents couldn\u2019t play with us because we were black. And I will say also that, in this campaign, we have also heard \u2013 and I\u2019m going to now direct this at Vice President Biden \u2013 I do not believe you are a racist, and I agree with you when you commit yourself to the importance of finding common ground. But I also believe \u2013 and it\u2019s personal \u2013 it was hurtful to hear you talk about the reputations of two United States senators who built their reputations and career on the segregation of race in this country.
