The Oversight Committee voted 34\u20139 to advance the resolutions, with nine Democrats joining all committee Republicans; three of those Democrats (Reps. Summer Lee, Melanie Stansbury and Rashida Tlaib) also supported a contempt resolution for Hillary Clinton. Some Democrats on the committee voted \u201cpresent.\u201d The Clintons\u2019 attorneys argued the subpoenas were invalid and offered a meeting with Oversight Chairman Rep. James Comer in new York without a transcript, an offer Comer rejected as insufficient. Comer said subpoenas carry the force of law and indicated he expects state or federal authorities, including Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, to consider enforcement actions similar to prosecutions in prior subpoena-defiance cases. Lee, Stansbury, and Tlaib also joined with Republicans&rsquo; contempt of Congress resolution against Hillary.<\/p>\n<p>Several Democrats voted &ldquo;present&rdquo; as well &mdash; which is, TL;DR, a congressional way to say &ldquo;I&rsquo;m here but I&rsquo;m too cowardly to vote either way.&rdquo; One of them was California Rep. Dave Min, who voted &ldquo;present&rdquo; for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-house-democrat-makes-spectacularly-hypocritical-argument-holding-clintons-contempt-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">holding Bill in contempt of Congress because<\/a> &mdash; get ready to laugh &mdash; &ldquo;what we&rsquo;re proposing here is a very serious matter: <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >bringing criminal charges<\/a> against a former president of the United States.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">CA Dem Rep Dave Min defends the Clintons during contempt hearing; says that &ldquo;bringing criminal charges against a former president&rdquo; would be a very serious matter.<\/p>\n<p>Right, Congressman. James Comer, a Kentucky Republican, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-is-right-to-push-back-against-judicial-supremacy\/\" title=\"Trump Is Right To Push Back Against Judicial Supremacy\">rightly called &#038;ldquo<\/a>;insulting&rdquo; &mdash; was to meet with Comer in New York with no transcript of the encounter.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The committee does not take this action lightly. Subpoenas are not mere suggestions,&rdquo; Comer said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;[Subpoenas] carry the force of law and require compliance. Former President Clinton and Secretary Clinton were legally required to appear for depositions before this committee.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>And, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/newsfront\/house-bill-clinton-hillary-clinton\/2026\/01\/29\/id\/1244154\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsmax<\/a> reported, Comer &ldquo;expects Attorney General Pam Bondi to act in holding the Clintons accountable, the same way the Biden administration&rsquo;s DOJ acted in prosecuting Trump adviser Peter Navarro and strategist Steve Bannon for defying congressional subpoenas.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>That means time in prison, which both of them served for not appearing before the kangaroo Jan. 6 committee. The Oversight Committee, which is actually bipartisan, actually serves a purpose, and is actually looking in on the crimes of one of the most notorious and noxious criminals of the 21st century, cannot and should not be so easily ignored, particularly by a former first couple which was associated with him.<\/p>\n<p>Will the House do its job and act with the same bipartisanship the Oversight Committee did? Or will it dither like Rep. Min did and pretend that something like this has never happened before? (Except, of course, when it happened to President Donald Trump and those around him.)<\/p>\n<p>Get your popcorn ready, folks.
