The scandal\u2014reported to involve many defendants of Somali descent\u2014led to a prior hearing on Jan. 7 with testimony from Republican state reps and prompted an inquiry launched last year. Tim Walz (D-MN) will testify in front of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on March 4 as part of the panel&rsquo;s second hearing regarding the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/minnesota-fraud\/\">Minnesota fraud scandal<\/a>, Chairman&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/james-comer\/\">James Comer<\/a>&nbsp;(R-KY) announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Walz will testify alongside Minnesota Attorney General <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/keith-ellison\/\">Keith Ellison<\/a>. Kristin Robbins, Walter Hudson, and Marion Rarick, all of whom are Republicans. The hearing consisted of many pointed fingers and barbs in heated exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation was launched last year, and the committee has called on state officials to testify in closed-door, transcribed interviews, while also requesting suspicious activity reports from Treasury Secretary&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/scott-bessent\/\">Scott Bessent<\/a>, along with a staff-level briefing from the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/author\/lgreen\/\">HOUSE MOVES FORWARD WITH HOLDING BILL AND HILLARY CLINTON IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The issue heated up in recent months when President Donald Trump announced in a Truth Social post that he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dhs-terminates-temporary-protected-status-for-haitians\/\" title=\"DHS terminates temporary protected status for Haitians\">terminating temporary protected status<\/a> for Somalis in the state.
