Minneapolis police arrested kazmierczak and booked him on preliminary third-degree assault charges; he has a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >prior felony auto-theft conviction<\/a> and has posted pro-Trump content online. Omar\u2019s office confirmed the substance, and she said she is fine and won\u2019t be intimidated. Several people at the town hall said they noticed a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/28\/us-news\/alleged-ilhan-omar-attacker-hinted-at-town-hall-plans-in-cryptic-texts-to-neighbor-i-might-get-arrested\/\">strong vinegar scent<\/a> in the air after the man sprayed the substance.<\/p>\n<p>The incident came just hours before Capitol Police released its 2025 threat assessment&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uscp.gov\/media-center\/press-releases\/uscp-threat-assessment-cases-2025\">case annual<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uscp.gov\/media-center\/press-releases\/uscp-threat-assessment-cases-2025\">numbers<\/a>, which showed about a 37% increase in threat concerns toward members of Congress, their staff and families, and Capitol grounds, increasing from 9,474 cases in 2024 to 14,938 in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Minneapolis police arrested the suspect on preliminary <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/newschannel9.com\/news\/nation-world\/apple-cider-vinegar-police-identify-potential-substance-sprayed-at-rep-ilhan-omar-minneapolis-minnesota-politics-fraud-ice-border-patrol-protection-protests-riots-alex-pretti-renee-nicle-good-president-donald-trump\">charges<\/a> of third-degree assault. Kazmierczak, who has a criminal history with a felony auto theft conviction, is booked in the Hennepin County Jail. The suspect has <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/news\/national-international\/man-arrested-attack-ilhan-omar-criminal-history-pro-trump-posts\/6451377\/\">supported<\/a> President Donald Trump on his personal social media platforms.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m ok. I&rsquo;m a survivor so this small agitator isn&rsquo;t going to intimidate me from doing my work. I don&rsquo;t let bullies win,&rdquo; Omar wrote <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/IlhanMN\/status\/2016333960939262423?s=20\">on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The attack against Omar has caused a split among GOP respondents, with some lawmakers showing their full support for Omar after the incident, while Trump said she &ldquo;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4436545\/trump-waves-off-ilhan-omar-town-hall-attack-probably-had-herself-sprayed\/\">probably had herself sprayed<\/a>.&rdquo; Trump told White House reporters that he had not seen the video of the attack.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No. I don&rsquo;t think about her. I think she&rsquo;s a fraud. I really don&rsquo;t think about that. She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her,&rdquo; Trump said.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/4436803\/gop-lawmakers-break-from-trump-in-taking-attack-against-omar-seriously\/\">GOP LAWMAKERS BREAK FROM TRUMP IN TAKING ATTACK AGAINST OMAR SERIOUSLY<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But several GOP lawmakers, including Rep. Regardless of how vehemently I disagree with her rhetoric &mdash; and I do &mdash; no elected official should face physical attacks.
