Trump provided an optimistic view of the communication and announced Homan&rsquo;s visit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I just had a very good telephone conversation with Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis. Lots of progress is being made!&rdquo; Trump said in a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/115963713974102712\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">post<\/a> on Truth Social on Monday. &ldquo;Tom Homan will be meeting with him tomorrow in order to continue the discussion.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The talks between Homan, Frey, and Walz are the latest developments in a tenuous situation in Minneapolis. Federal law enforcement officers were deployed to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/minnesota\/\">Minnesota<\/a> in December as part of Operation Metro Surge as part of Trump&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >illegal immigration enforcement operations<\/a>. Protesters have opposed the deployment and have held demonstrations against the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in the city.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Two civilians were killed by federal law enforcement operations in Minnesota in January. Their deaths have led to continuous protests and demonstrations throughout the city, leading to calls for the reduction of tensions.
